According to reports, the daughter of Hon. Kwaku Kyei Baffour, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bekwai, was found dead in the back of their home in Atwima Bebu in the Ashanti Region.
Although there were no indications of a break-in, police who responded to the scene of the crime reported that both their living room and bedrooms had been pillaged, and a TV had been taken.
Akua Serwaa Kyei died on August 3, 2023, in Atwima Bebu, in the Ashanti Region, according to a statement from the Ghana Police Service obtained by Countryghana.com. “The Police have begun investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a female adult, Akua Serwaa Kyei, on August 3, 2023,” the statement states.
The victim’s husband claimed that when he got home at 5:30 p.m. on August 3, 2023, he discovered the woman unconscious at the back of their home. He hurried her to the hospital, but she was pronounced dead when he got there. He further claimed that a television had been stolen and that their living room and bedroom had been looted.
No windows or doors in the residence had been broken into, according to the Police Crime Scene team’s initial evaluation of the incident scene.
Additionally, no signs of violence or a gunshot wound were discovered when the deceased body was examined at the hospital.
Since then, the body has been kept at the mortuary for a preservation autopsy while the investigation is ongoing.
The police have spoken with the deceased’s relatives, and we are collaborating with them to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice.
The family has also been contacted by the Inspector-General of Police via telephone, and he has assured them that the situation will be thoroughly investigated. The family has also been given access to a police clinical psychologist to help them through these tough times.
