World Cup 2022: Ghana turn attention to Uruguay

The Black Stars of Ghana will now turn their attention to Uruguay for their final group game.

Ghana secured their first win of the tournament at the Education City Stadium on Monday after suffering a defeat against Portugal in their opener last week Thursday.

The Black Stars now have three points after two games and will need a draw or a win to play in the next round of the tournament.

Ghana will clash with the two-time world champions at the Al Janoub Stadium on Friday with kick-off scheduled a 15:00GMT.

Ghana coach takes selfie with crying Son Heung-min after defeat

Son Heung-min was left in tears after South Korea’s World Cup hopes were rocked by defeat to Ghana – but that didn’t stop one of the opposition coaches from trying to get a selfie with him.

South Korea look set to exit Qatar at the group stage after their 3-2 loss.

They fought back from 2-0 down to draw level, but Mohammed Kudus’ 68th-minute goal gave Ghana victory.

The result means South Korea will have to beat Portugal in their final Group H match to have a chance of qualifying.

Tottenham’s Son – who is playing at the tournament with a protective mask after fracturing his eye socket – went through a range of emotions after the full-time whistle.

Son, along with some of his teammates, reacted angrily after referee Antony Taylor blew his whistle for full-time and didn’t allow South Korea to take a corner.

Coach Paulo Bento was shown a red card for his protests and then had his hand swatted away when he tried to put an arm around a frustrated Son afterward.

Perhaps as the realization of the result sunk in, Son broke down in tears.

He was crouched on the floor and was consoled by some Ghana players and coaches, including assistant George Boateng.

As Boateng spoke to Son, another member of the Ghana coaching team saw the opportunity for a selfie, putting his arm around the Tottenham star and taking a snap.

Boateng did not look impressed and ushered him away as Son walked off.

While South Korea’s hopes of qualifying look slim, Ghana are in with a chance after their first win.

Minority should shut up! they are the cause of this Ofori-Atta mess – Political Analyst

0

Political analyst, Yaw Asani Tanoh is disappointed in the Minority Caucus in Parliament.

The Minority has expressed their disappointment over the sudden U-turn by the Majority Caucus after their earlier threats to boycott the 2023 Budget if it is presented by the embattled Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

“We feel let down and we feel betrayed by the Majority Caucus who have shown no wit in supporting us with our impeachment process within the letter and spirit of Article 82 of the 1992 constitution. We are not abandoning our censorship motion. We are in it for the long haul and we will insist that the letter and spirit of article 82 are fully respected and an outcome determined by secret vote ultimately after a debate on the Committee’s report is submitted to plenary,” Minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu said at a press conference on Wednesday.

However, Asani Tanoh believe the Minority have no right to feel betrayed because if the latter had not approved Ken Ofori Atta’s nomination as the Finance Minister, the embattled minister will not be hanging around the neck of Ghanaians like an albatross.

Contributing to a panel discussion on Neat FM’s Me Man Nti programme, Asani Tanoh said “…are the minority saying they’re disappointed? What are they talking about? They are the ones who created Ken Ofori Atta. They have done the same thing over and over again. They keep saying we’re disappointed and we are going to fight against him (Ofori Atta) yet they all go behind the scene and approve him…you have created Ken Ofori Atta so you better shut up rather than throwing dust into our eyes pretending to be fighting for the nation; they have disappointed the nation…”

Portugal’s match against Ghana is the most difficult in Group H- Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo, the captain of the Portugal national team, has said that their opening matchup in Group H of the 2022 FIFA World Cup against the Black Stars will be the most challenging.

Ronaldo thinks that because Portugal and Ghana have previous encounters in the competition, they would face a more challenging foe in the Black Stars than they did in the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The rematch against Ghana is, in Ronaldo’s opinion, the most challenging game in the group, so he urged his teammates to concentrate on their opening meeting against the Black Stars and not underestimate them.

“I believe our national team has tremendous potential to win the World Cup. We will see. I believe we can. I have that hope, that belief but we must start well against Ghana.”

“But like these competitions always teach us; we must think calmly. We must think and focus on the first group game. We must think about the Ghana game which is the most difficult one,” Ronaldo said at the pre-match conference on Monday, November 21, 2022.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup will include a rematch of the group stage match between Ghana and Portugal from the previous tournament, and the Seleços will be depending on their talisman to lead them to victory.

Additionally, he stated that he is prepared for the World Cup, which may be his final opportunity to win the Olympics.

“I’m feeling great, I’m recovered and I’m training well and ready to start the World Cup in the best way possible.”

Ronaldo in 2014 scored in Portugal’s 2-1 victory over the Black Stars but exited the tournament from the group phase together with Ghana.

Online banter between Elikem Kumordzie and Abrantie the Gentleman

Elikem Kumordzie the Tailor and Abrantie The Gentleman, two enormous Ghanaian fashion businesses, are engaged in a social media tiff over who among them sets the trends.

Elikem Kumordzie previously modeled on the runway alongside his kid at the 2022 Glitz Style Awards, an act he claimed to be first in the Ghanaian fashion business.

Abrantie The Gentleman recently brought his daughter on stage at the recently concluded Rythymz on the Runway presentation to cap off the showing of his collection.

But soon after, Elikem seized the opportunity to stake out the “modeling with kids” trendsetting position on social media.

“I’m living in the future. Call me the Ayigbe Kanye. Kanyewest . Last night was an example of the trend setter I am. Inspiring designers in Ghana and Nigeria. People playing traditional drums and doing culture at their shows, others bringing their children on stage. Let’s all continue to be the First not the Best and push our Creative abilities through the roof,” he wrote on social media.

Abrantie the Gentleman, in response, said that he completely disagreed with Elikem’s claim and that he had actually been the first to introduce his child on stage at a fashion show in London.

Abrantie corrected Elikem when he stated that he was the first to bring a cultural group onto the stage to support his runway show.

We dey bring kiddie for stage since February in London ooo (So can I also say I inspired you? No! Great minds think alike. And for African cultural displays its since 2014 in SA till date. African Fashion culture display was a movement by the LATE KOFI ANSAH(a black and white photo I saw). We just Dey carry on the mantra bro. If you have joined let’s carry it well and stop claiming ownership and inspiring.”

It didn’t end there, as Elikem Kumordzie left and came back to say;

“It doesn’t matter who brought Their child to the stage First, what matters are the memories we’ll leave behind for them. Abrantiethegentleman had a great show last night, and if I didn’t see that he brought his daughter on stage in February how would I know.

“And as for the cultural troop, I brought them on stage, they played live, and we heard that with you too from back stage. I’m still calling for our collaboration, or better yet a fashion Battle. Elikem The Tailor Vs Abrantie The Gentleman. We can display our fashion abilities instead of the back and forth here. Another thing about My show was that my son got the memo and fell to the ground like my models did. So it’s safe to say, my son is the “first toddler model to ever fall on the run way stage. So much for being a “pretty Betty”
