Why KNUST adopted ‘Things Fall Apart” and other songs by Kofi Kinaata[stream]

Kofi Kinaata’s ‘Things Fall Apart’ which was released in 2019 finds its way to KNUST syllabus and to be studied for the 2021/2022 academic year.

The English Department of KNUST in 2016 firstly adopted ‘susuka’ followed by Confession in 2018 and the recent on is ‘Things fall apart’.The interesting aspect is that in all these songs,the part which was sung in Fante are all translated in English.

In a post cited by countryghana.com/ on the official twitter page of voice of Knust which says

“Because of the literary devices and lyrical arrangement of stanzas set up in Kofi Kinaata’s [@KinaataGh ] Song “Things Fall Apart”, the English Department of KNUST have authorized the song to be studied by level 200’s for the first semester of the 2021 /2022 academic year’

The aforementioned songs have all earned him the Best Song Writer of the Year in the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
