ACCRA — The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who had been reported missing on September 22, 2026.
The suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams, and Josiah Obodai. According to the police, they were apprehended following intensive investigations conducted by the Missing Persons Unit.
How the Events Unfolded
Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19, 2026, driving his Honda Civic vehicle, and failed to return. Police investigations uncovered that Sarah Osei Adams lured the victim to the residence of suspect Philip Tefe located at Teshie Agbleza.
Both suspects later confessed to their involvement in the crime. They disclosed that during a confrontation, Philip Tefe attacked the victim, striking him with a metallic object. The injured victim was subsequently moved to another room, where he was left unattended and eventually died.
Body Dumped and Set Ablaze
Investigations further established that on September 20, 2026, the victim’s body was transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to a location near the motorway, dumped in a bush, and set on fire. The partially burnt body was subsequently discovered at Community 18 on September 21, 2026.
On September 24, 2026, the victim’s biological mother and uncle formally identified the body at the Police Hospital morgue.
Recovery of Stolen Property and Further Arrests
Authorities successfully retrieved the victim’s iPhone 12, which Philip Tefe allegedly sold for GH₵100.00. The buyer, Sunday Omeje, has been cautioned and detained on charges of dishonestly receiving the phone.
Further probes led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is assisting police with investigations regarding the disposal of the body. The Kia Morning vehicle belonging to Obodai’s father, believed to have been used in transporting the body, has also been impounded by the police.
All three primary suspects remain in police custody and are scheduled to be put before the court. Meanwhile, police investigations remain ongoing to track down and arrest any other accomplices connected to the case.
