NDC elects executives for election 2024

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) wants to overthrow the New Patriotic Party’s eight-year rule in the 2024 elections, but first they must reassemble the NEC, which is a very unimportant subject.

Over 9000 delegates will cast their ballots for the preferred candidates for the various seats on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

There are nine posts up for grabs with over 62 people fighting for them now that the elections for the National Women and Youth Organizers are over and Sammy Gyamfi has been appointed National Communications Officer.

Similar to elections of this kind, several posts have been designated as being the most hotly contested.

National Chairmanship Position

When it comes to whatever post is receiving media attention, the National Chairmanship race is without a doubt the best of the group.

This is due to Johnson Asiedu Nketiah’s realization that he must advance and take on the chairmanship role after serving the NDC for 17 years as General Secretary.

The only problem is that General Mosquito is running for the position currently held by Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo, who is, to be fair, a strong candidate.

Although there are two more competitors, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and Asiedu Nketiah have dominated the build-up.

Both candidates have been traveling the entire nation in an effort to win over delegates. Before audio of Asiedu Nketiah speaking to certain delegates made its way into the public, their campaign had been dominated by covert attacks.

Since then, both men have been criticizing and defending their stances in the mainstream media.

General Secretary

The fact that General Mosquito is leaving his position after all these years has made it available to potential candidates, and there could be three of them.

The three candidates are Dr. Peter Boamah Otokunor, the current Deputy General Secretary, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, a former Minister and Parliamentarian, and Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a former Sports and Youth Minister and Director of Elections for the party.

Fiifi Kwetey is regarded as a more composed, diplomatic individual who will bring some calm to the post in contrast to Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, whose enthusiasm and charisma allure him to supporters. After years of working under Asiedu Nketiah, Peter Otokunor has declared himself to be the heir apparent.

National Organizer

Joshua Akamba is up against some serious competition for his job, including Chief Biney Nixon, his deputy, the former deputy minister of sports, Joseph Yamin, and Solomon Yaw Nkansah.

The two people who are thought to pose the largest obstacles to the Akamba’s attempt to keep his position are Chief Biney and Joseph Yamin.

The aforementioned portfolios’ deputy posts are also up for grabs. Voting will also take place for the NEC members and Zongo Caucus Coordinator, among other important roles.
