Court issues warrant for arrest of Okraku Mantey

0

An Adentan circuit court has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Mark Okraku Mantey, the deputy minister of tourism, arts and culture, for failing to appear before it.

The deputy minister has been charged for allegedly violating Sections 7 (1) and (2) of the Vigilantism and Related Offences Act. The prosecution says he forcibly gained access to the land, owned by one Alhaji Tony Baba.

Okraku Mantey was to appear in court yesterday (18 January) to continue completion of the case management conference for the trial to commence but failed. His lawyer was also absent, but he sought permission from the court.

Prosecuting, Superintendent of Police Patience Mario prayed the court for a bench warrant to effect the arrest of the accused person. The court presided over by Sedinam Awo Balokah, issued the warrant and adjourned the matter to 8 February 2022.

Double claim
The case of the prosecution was that the complainant, Alhaji Tony Baba, was an estate developer residing in North Legon, Accra.

It said the complainant was developing a parcel of land at Oyarifa High Tension, ownership of which the accused person, too, was allegedly claiming.

The prosecution said on 3 March last year, the accused person went to the site with three “thugs” two of whom were on a motorbike and another in his (the deputy minister’s) car.

The prosecution said on 9 March last year, the accused person visited the site for a few hours, after which the “thugs” with whom he previously visited the site went back to the site and attacked the workers and caused damage to parts of the building allegedly.

It said the complainant reported the matter to the police and mentioned the accused person as the one behind the “unwarranted attacks and damages”.

Triple damage
The prosecution said that, during interrogation, the accused person was contacted to report at the police to assist in investigations.

It said while police were waiting for the accused person, more damage was allegedly caused to the three-bedroom building on 10 March last year, and Okraku Mantey was identified as the one who had brought and ordered the “thugs” to cause the damage.

The prosecution said that on 3 April last year, the complainant’s workers were allegedly attacked again and two people sustained injury.

It said the injured people were issued with police medical forms so they could seek treatment.

On 20 March 2021, further extensive damage was allegedly caused to the building, which had been built to lintel level and was valued at GHC63,700.

Meet the Ghanaian who recycle Plastics waste into building Materials(Photos)

0

Ghanaians are making differences day in day out and it is super amazing.Talents in Africa countries are mostly taken for granted and most them are nearly left do it own their own.The Risk involved is worth the result in most of this milestone breakthrough.

Let us share with you this amazing post as shown below on Linked by Impact group Network

Nelson Boateng; is a Ghanaian eco-entrepreneur, who is leading the way in the secondary usage of plastic waste. He is the founder of Nelplast Eco Ghana Limited, a plastics recycling company that transforms plastic waste into building materials. Unlike many who recycle plastic waste into bags or other handy products, Nelson uses plastics as ‘concrete’ to build roads and houses. After his secondary education, he didn’t move straight into any tertiary institution but decided to work for some time. He got a job in a plastic company that made polythene bags, plastic bowls, rubber buckets, among others. That was the unpopular yet rewarding move Nelson made. Nelson, as industrious as he has always been, worked with the company for eight years and rose to become the manager. While managing the plastic company, a situation arose between the owners of the company that eventually led to its dissolution. But for someone who has been interested in entrepreneurship since age 14, it became an opportunity for him to set the stage for his dreams to become a reality. Nelson decided not to enter any industry other than the one he already knew—plastics. He set up Nelplast Ghana Eco Limited in 2014 He began reading and researching what other things plastics can be used for that will be friendly to the environment. That was when he came up with a unique paste which is a mixture of sand and plastics to make bricks. Now having discovered what he wants to do, he moved straight into it, and that was the beginning of his to use plastics to build houses and roads. Driven by the motivation to preserve the environment, Nelson came up with an idea that would be more sustainable and usable in such a way that it will not cause further pollution. The 36-year-old began the initiative between 2015 and 2016 when there was fierce media debate on the need to ban plastic waste so as to make the city clean.

He set up a bricks manufacturing center that converts plastic waste into blocks for building. The bricks, Nelson explained, are not made with mortar and have the ability to withstand earthquakes or tremors. According to him, the plastic blocks could also be used as foundation bricks in waterlogging or salty areas. Boateng revealed that he used some 13,400 kilos of plastic waste collected from gutters and beaches in the country to build a house. Indeed, it is regarded as the first house to be constructed using plastic waste in Ghana. In 2020, he was named alongside the Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, President Akufo Addo and others as the Top 50 African Disruptors .

Benjamin Tetteh The Blackstars Boxer Banned By CAF

0

Ghana striker Benjamin Tetteh has reportedly been ban by the Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for punching Gabonese player after full time.

This will rule Tetteh out of the knockout and quarter final stages of the tournament as the Black Stars take steps to qualify to the next stage of the tournament.

Tetteh was shown a retrospective red card by Algerian official Lahlou Benbraham for swinging a punch at a Gabon player.

The incident took place at the end of Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Gabon on Friday evening, a hugely damaging result for the Black Stars in their bid to reach the knockouts.

There was visible frustration on the Ghana bench after Gabon’s Jim Allevinah scored an equaliser in the 88th minute.

And that frustration spilled onto the pitch after Benbraham blew for full-time, with players arguing with each other and their opponents.

Eventually 24-year-old Tetteh, who had come on as a substitute, swung a punch at Aaron Boupendza.

Tetteh saw the referee trying to work out who was the offender and quickly ran down the tunnel off the pitch.

After striking his opponent in a post-match brawl Benjamin Tetteh ran down the tunnel and away from the referee. Nevertheless the ref, assisted by VAR on the identity of the culprit, refused to accept that and called for his return.

After being informed of the culprit a furious Benbraham refused to leave the pitch, telling Arsenal’s Thomas Partey and other members of the Ghana set-up to “send No 25 out.”

However, Tetteh still didn’t emerge. Eventually Benbraham gestured to the crowd that the red card had been shown to No 25, which is Tetteh’s number.

It will also be included in his report.

ACCRA STEM ACADEMY TO BE COMPLETED IN 24 MONTHS -NANA ADDO

0

The President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, on Wednesday, 12th January 2022, cut the sod for the construction of the Accra STEM Academy, a school, dedicated, principally, to the teaching and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

The Academy, which will be constructed within the next twenty-four (24) months, will be completed from kindergarten to high school, with an expected population of some two thousand (2,000) students.

It will have a number of state-of-the-art facilities, including a four-storey classroom block, science laboratories, a sickbay, administrative area, staff common room, library, washrooms, canteen, and a one thousand, five hundred (1,500) capacity multi-purpose hall.

According to President Akufo-Addo, the Accra STEM Academy, being constructed at a cost of thirty-two million cedis (GH¢32 million), will equip learners from kindergarten to senior high school with 21st century skills in problem solving, creativity, communication, collaboration, data literacy, digital literacy, and computer science.

“In addition, the Accra STEM Academy will be a place where learners in junior high school will be provided with the options of learning basic engineering, manufacturing, and global studies to help them make informed decisions on their preferred programmes of choice at senior high school level,” he said.

Nana Addo and Education Minister

Delivering a speech at the event, the President explained that Government attaches importance to the teaching of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at all levels of the nation’s educational system, in recognition of the centrality of STEM capability in the employment of science and technology towards Ghana’s nation’s development.

“Indeed, our world is essentially driven by technology. Energy, industry, agriculture, medicine and health, clean air and water, transportation, sanitation, the use, management and conservation of natural resources – the successful exploitation of all these sectors depends, ultimately, on the application of science and technology. So, it is obvious that, to be a part of this modern world, science and technology must be present at every stage of the development process,” he added.

Despite being one of the leading countries in guaranteeing access to quality education on the continent, President Akufo-Addo noted that Ghana’s education sector still requires some significant transformation to compete with the best in the world.

For example, he explained that Ghana must increase her Gross Tertiary Enrolment Ratio (GTER) from the current 18.84% to 40% by 2030, adding that “in accordance with Government’s Education Strategic Plan (ESP), targeted at increasing our science to humanities ratio from the current one of forty to sixty (40:60) to the desired sixty to forty (60:40) in favour of science, Government is repositioning our education system, anchored on STEM Education”.

As part of Government’s commitment to the advancement of STEM education in the country, President Akufo-Addo stated that his administration has commenced the development of twenty (20) STEM Centres and ten (10) model STEM Senior High schools across the country, which are at various stages of completion.

“Some of these schools will be operationalized this year. These institutions and centres will be fitted with state-of-the art equipment and laboratories to facilitate teaching and learning in all areas of study, including artificial intelligence and robotics,” he added.

Describing the Accra STEM Academy as a Ghana project, the President was confident that Ghana’s young people are going to acquire skills that would put them at par with their peers anywhere in the world.

“I expect parents and students to take advantage of this facility’s opportunities, and enroll in this STEM Academy. Government is committed to accelerating STEM education in Ghana, to train students with cutting-edge 21st century skills. God-willing, within the next twenty-four (24) months, we will all be back here to witness the commissioning of the Accra STEM Academy,” he added.

MzGee, did not leak the audio- Psalm Adjetefio slam Ghanaians

0

Veteran actor, Psalm Adjetefio, popularly known as TT, has come in defence of Media Personality, MzGee over leaked phone conversation.

MzGee has faced a lot of backlash online since a phone conversation between she and TT made its way to social media.

On Monday night, the “Taxi Driver” actor was recorded in a 3 minutes audio, begging MzGee to help him with some  “leftovers” from her kitchen since the support he had been receiving from individuals stopped coming after Vice-president Bawumia’s public donation to him.

Since the audio went viral, social media users have responded in various dimensions to it. Some were of the strong view that the audio was personal and confidential and shouldn’t have been shared to the general public.

Some of MzGee’s colleagues in the industry, including Radio Presenter Amanda Jissih, have also publicly chided her sharing the audio.

However, reacting to the news of the leaked audio on Empire FM in Takoradi, TT has stated that he doesn’t believe MzGee leaked the audio.

“I don’t think MzGee will do a thing like that… please don’t attack MzGee. I don’t think she will consciously do a thing like that, no I don’t believe that,” he said in the interview.

According to TT, MzGee did send the audio to someone to a third party, her husband.

“So on this particular day, I just sent her a WhatsApp message but I didn’t hear from her, so I thought maybe she would be busy or something. Just last Monday night, she called me and said when I sent the message she was in Nigeria and so she sent the message to somebody to see if the person could be of assistance; specifically, she said she sent it to her husband,” TT revealed.

Meanwhile, MzGee has reacted to the allegations she has received so far.

“Ghana! Herrrh! Christ me! We forget too easily! Same me,who broke story of T.T’s predicament, almost a year ago? Same me, who put my reputation on the line and appealed for funds for T.T, almost year ago, leak our private conversation? How gullible can I be but it is well!” she tweeted.

MzGee also reminded Ghanaians that she was the first to break the story of TT’s predicament and put her reputation on the line to generate funds for him.

Takoradi:My Colleague Friend’s Gilfriend Left Him because of My favorite Street Preacher-Nesta Joojoe Erskine

0

In a Post sited by countryghana on Facebook by a writer Nesta Joojoe Erskine explains how he feel in love with this prracher.According to him this preacher is well dedicated and preaches in a straightforward manner which can cause you to feel so uncomfortable because his message indirecting hit you on a different level because of the truth in it. Below is the full narration on how a friend to his colleague lost his Girlfriend

Nesta Joojoe Erskine-Facebook

If you’re in Takoradi and you use the road leading to Market circle from Asempa hotel, then you might have met this man. He’s a preacher. When Jesus tasked his followers to be the soldiers of the gospel, this man right here took that command literally. So he soldiers along the street, preaching the gospel to passers-by. He’s the kind of guy God will look at and say, “This is a guy after my own heart when it comes to preaching.” He’s confrontational. He comes direct at you, point a finger in your face and scream, “Gyai krɔno no bɔ na Jesu reba.” (Stop stealing. Jesus is coming soon)

The road where he preaches is just in front of my office so I see him every day when he’s around. My first encounter with him was an early morning when I was in a traffic going to the office. He tapped on my window and signaled me to roll it down. I thought he was coming for collection. Immediately I rolled down he said, “Asɛm no Yɛdzi kyɛ kwa nti ɛti dɛ yɛre ka aa tie bi ai. Mɛ ɛnroll wo glass na wo 2021 yɛ obi ne 2011. Brɛ woho asi.” (The gospel is for free so when you hear it being preached, roll your Window down and listen. Your 2021 vehicle is someone’s 2011 vehicle. Be humble)

The Street Preacher-Captured by Nesta Jojoe Erskine

He turned away and walked with pride in his strides. Like he’s achieved his goal. Like he had won a soul for Christ. He could have gone to bed that night and feel proud of himself because what he said hit a chord that played a different melody within me.

I don’t think everyone likes him like I do. My colleagues don’t want to hear his voice. They accuse his unconventional ways of preaching. They say he’s too confrontational. They say God didn’t charge us to be this straightforward with the gospel. Every morning when I see him on the street, I scream from my office, “That’s my man!!” My colleagues will turn and look at him. They’ll chuckle but it doesn’t take away the fact that he’s my man.

Days ago a guy came to our office. He’s a friend to one of my colleagues. He was here when I screamed, “That’s my man. The Lord of street preaching.” As usual, they all turned. As usual they chuckled. As I’d come to expect, they started calling him names. The guy who came to our office screamed, “This guy, he’s forking roff.” I said, “Oh please, don’t say the about my man. Touch not my anointed. Haven’t you heard that?” He said, “Wait until you hear what he did to me some weeks ago.

So he started sharing his story.

His girlfriend visited one evening and they had issues. It was an issue they’ve had for a very long time. Another woman was involved. His girlfriend had caught him cheating with that woman. She read the messages and had a solid evidence to back her claim. That evening when she visited they had a huge fight about his cheating ways. “I’m a man. I’ve been with her for years so I knew how to tame her. I apologized. I said all the sweet things to calm her down. She didn’t agree with me but was ready to stay and fight for the relationship.”

The next day, he picked a taxi and went to town with his girl sitting next to him. They were both quiet. They were having a hangover of last night’s fight. His only sin was allowing the taxi driver to use the road my man preaches on. He said, “I saw him moving from one car to another saying things to the passengers. I didn’t pay attention to him. The traffic was thick. He could stay with a car for a few seconds and move to the next. When he got to my taxi, he pointed a finger at me and screamed, “Gyai edwaman no bɔ na Yesu reba. The lady you told to abort the pregnancy, if she tries to abort it she’ll die. Go and tell her.”

So his girlfriend turned to him and said, “You see what I’ve always been telling you? This one is coming from a man of God. Just what we were fighting about a moment ago. You see a revelation had come about you? Everyone will know you. You smell of cheating. Everyone can smell it when you walk by.”

That’s how he lost his girlfriend.

It was funny but sad at the same time. It turned into a discussion. We asked questions. He answered. “So is it true that you’ve impregnated someone?” He said no. He said, “He’s just a liar don’t mind him.” I asked, “Is it true that you’re fornicating?” He answered with a mellow voice, “He calls himself a pastor. Can he swear that he hasn’t fornicated before?”

But he’s still my man. The sun is high. The traffic is thick. His shirt is wet from his own sweat but he continues moving from car to car telling people to change their ways. You see a poly bag in his hand. When it rains, he puts his bible in the poly bag so it doesn’t get wet. He’ll stand in the rain and still point fingers at you and ask you to run from your sins. I’ve never seen him taking collection. He just preach as if it’s the only mandate. The purpose for his existence.

One day when we go to heaven, I will like to live closer to his cubicle. I will be his PR. I will tell God, ”This man needs an air-conditioned room. He’s been in the sun all his life.” I will tell God, “This man needs a V8 turbo charge chariots to move him around here.” “God, I know there’s no dirt around here but this man needs new white robes every morning. We are not hungry but can Esther get off her seat and cook something for him? Or Esther is a feminist so she doesn’t cook for men?” Then get Angel Gabriel do the cooking.”

I took these photos a moment ago. He’s there working. I’m here writing about him because he’s my man!
