Captain Nkrabea Effah-Dartey, lead counsel for illegal mining (galamsey) kingpin, Aisha Huang, has justified his decision to render legal services to the embattled Chinese national.

Amidst public criticisms for his provision of legal service to Aisha Huang, Captain Effah-Dartey, who is a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party, says his service to his client is largely for its monetary benefits.

“People who are blaming me for defending Aisha Huang don’t know what they are saying.

“I have a wife, children and grandchildren, so I’m only working for my daily bread.

“I’m defending Aisha Huang for my daily bread”, he is quoted in a report by Oyerepafmonline.com.

Asked if he would withdraw his services should the Akufo-Addo-led government appoint him, he said, “If government gives me an appointment to stop defending Aisha Huang, of course, I will stop.”

He added that “anytime you see me defending Aisha Huang, it means she has paid me fully. As we speak, I’ve been paid fully.”

Meanwhile, the lawyer expressed concern about access to his client, saying, “my only worry is that I find it difficult to get access to my client. I feel the state is not treating her fairly.”

He, however, expressed optimism that his client will be discharged of the charges pressed against her as he believes the state lacks evidence to prove the charges.

Dramatic moment as British Royal Guard falls to the ground next to Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin

0

The Royal Guard fell face down

A soldier on guard at one of the ceremonies made headlines in a somewhat unpleasant way, among all the scenes, sights, happenings, and news surrounding the funeral arrangements for the burial of the former monarch of Britain, Queen Elizabeth II.

The soldier who stood on watch during one of the days of the filing past rituals for the late queen fell on his face in a video that has since gone viral.

Thousands of people crowded past the queen as the incident, which Inside Edition called a “moment of drama at 1 am,” took place.

He received rapid assistance from two Scotland Yard policemen.

“Faints themselves are generally relatively harmless. So, if you’re standing very still, particularly if your legs are locked, and you’re not really moving around, blood tends to pour in the lower parts of your body, and therefore, not even get back to the heart, and critically, not even gets back to the brain. And that’s when you pass out,” Dr. Ranj Singh, an Emergency Room Physician, told the channel.

Ghana’s economic foundation is being hit by galamsey; exports of cocoa may soon be prohibited- Fuseini hints

Traces of mercury found in Ghana's cocoa beans

Inusah Fuseini, a former minister of lands and natural resources, has warned that Ghana’s main export, cocoa, may be prohibited due to the dangers of illicit mining (also known as “galamsey”).

He claims that dangerous compounds, such as mercury, have been discovered in cocoa beans as a result of “galamsey” activities, making them unfit for human consumption.

“Galamseyers are currently ruining the economic foundation of the nation with their activities in addition to damaging our environment. I trust you are aware that the European Union (EU) has stated that our cocoa contains traces of mercury. In an interview with Neat FM that countryghana listened to, he stated in Twi, “It is striking at the backbone of the economy.”

The threat of “galamsey,” according to Fuseini, a former member of parliament for Tamale Central, must be recognized as a threat to Ghana’s survival, and strong action must be taken to stop it.

“Even if we stop using galamsey right once, it will take close to a century for the environment, particularly the water bodies, to fully recover. The harm to the environment is this. This is why similar actions by individuals that harm the ecosystem are considered crimes against the environment and are dealt with accordingly elsewhere,” he said.

He added that the government’s present strategy for combating the threat is ineffective since it is not comprehensive enough.

“That is why I told Nana Addo that he was making a mistake when he said he is outrightly banning ‘galamsey’. When the second attempt was done, I told them that it must be a multi-stakeholder. A lot of people must be part of the fight,” he said.

Bride found dead one week after marriage; throat and thigh cut

0

The late Munira MoroJust one week after she wed her husband, a 32-year-old woman was discovered dead in her home.

According to reports, Muniratu Moro, a second wife who was married, was discovered on September 6 with a cut to her throat and a thigh at her marital house in Abeka. She was found dead in a pool of blood.

The relatives of Munira Moro stated in a Joynews interview that they believe she was murdered. Her brother, who believed it to be manslaughter, claimed the family would fight any attempts to bury her right away as per Muslim tradition.

“I had a call around 9 PM that my sister has been stabbed, so I thought I was going to see the body with a small cut but when I got there, it was a different thing together.

“She was killed in her room and then dragged into her rival’s room, the way she died was not natural and we need to know how she was murdered,” the brother of the deceased, Mohammed Samba said.

“…for you to live in the house like that even if you beat your, son, in your room, your neighbor will hear it, for someone to be killed in that manner and dragged into a different room and nobody is telling us anything and you want us to bury her immediately after she died?

According to reports, Muniratu’s family has refused to let the husband’s family bury her because they want the authorities to perform an autopsy test first.

She was butchered like an animal, so we can let it go, another family member added.

The first husband and wife of Muniratu have been detained by authorities and are actively cooperating with their investigations.

I’m surprised by his affiliation with “fraudsters,” says Inusah Fuseini regarding his son’s case

Former MP for Tamale Central, Inusah FuseiniInusah Fuseini, a former MP for Tamale Central, said that although he feels his son is innocent, he is startled that he would even mingle with criminals. His son is accused of money laundering and fraud in the US.

He claimed that his son’s fraud case surprised him since he had sent him abroad to study environmental engineering with the intention that he would return to the country and use his knowledge of the issue of climate change.

He remarked, “I sent him to the US to go to school. I don’t believe he has committed the crimes he has been charged with, but for him to even interact with those who do that (fraud) is my concern,” in an interview with Okay FM, a station headquartered in Accra.I know my son very well, and I know he won’t do that.”

Background

31-year-old Abdul Inusah was arrested for his role in a Huntington-based scheme that defrauded individuals in multiple states through the use of false online personas.

A statement from the United States Department of Justice explained that evidence at trial revealed that “Inusah was part of a conspiracy that targeted victims using false personas via email, text messaging, and online dating and social media websites. From at least January 2018 through at least December 2019, the scheme sought to induce victims into believing they were in a romantic relationship, friendship, or business relationship with various false personas. The victims were persuaded to send money for a variety of false and fraudulent reasons for the benefit of the false personas.”

One instance was when one false persona, “Mariama,” was used to induce an Alabama resident into providing $106,000 via wire transfers and cashier’s checks. The amount included $48,000 to pay overdue taxes on a nonexistent gold inheritance in Ghana and $21,000 wired to Bitsav Supply LLC, a shell company set up by Inusah. Another false persona, “Grace,” persuaded a Washington resident to wire funds so “Grace” could maintain her South African cocoa plantation and move to the United States to marry the victim. Other victims of the false personas included residents of Ohio and Florida.

The Jury found Inusah guilty of receipt of stolen money, conspiracy to commit money laundering, and two counts of wire fraud. The wire fraud counts involve a pair of $2,000 Zelle wire transfers to Inusah from the money obtained using the “Miarama” false persona in January 2019.

United States Attorney, Will Thompson, described the activities as heart-breaking as vulnerable individuals were targeted.

The United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers presided over the Jury.

Abdul Inusah has been scheduled to be sentenced on November 21, 2022, and will face a maximum penalty of 50 years in prison.

Senior advisor to the president and former senior minister Yaw Osafo Maafo has reportedly received advice from high-ranking members of the Akufo-Addo, Bawumia administration, and New Patriotic Party to refrain from giving media interviews about topics of governance.

According to countryghana.com/ sources About a month or so ago, Mr. Maafo received a warning to refrain from making public comments on problems of governance. This warning has nothing to do with the present Aisha Huang incident.

According to the Senior Presidential Advisor, the Asantes were not a part of the independence movement, which was led by the Akyems.

Senior NPP members agreed Mr. Osafo Maafo should issue a written apology for the anti-Asante remark and refrain from making any more public comments unless he is giving a scripted speech at a public forum.

In accordance with the suggestion, the senior presidential advisor to President Akufo-Addo formally apologized for making the racialized remark that cast Asantes in a negative light. He also admitted that he "erred."

Aisha Huang New Ghana Card Saga

Four years after being expelled from Ghana, Huang En aka Aisha Huang, a female galamsey (illegal mining Chinese descent, ha) kingpin of s re-entered the country.

The public outcry over her re-entry, which was made public after her arrest, has been sparked by the revelation that she obtained a non-citizen identity card from the National Identification Authority after entering the country again.

Following the reports, the NIA has attempted to shed more light on the events leading up to the card’s issuance.

In 2014, she received her first foreigner identity card:

The Foreigner Identification Management System (FIMS) registration center at Nhyiaeso, Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region is where the female Chinese national first obtained a foreign identity card on February 26, 2014 under the name Huang En, according to a statement from the NIA (passport attached).

She had her biometrics taken, and a Non-citizen Ghana Card was given to her.

Before being deported, Aisha Huang renewed her card in 2016 and 2018:

She subsequently renewed her passport twice, the NIA claims, using the same information and Chinese passport number G39575625 on August 31, 2016, and January 8, 2018, respectively. Her information stayed the same during each registration, according to the NIA.

Aisha Huang renewed her 2014 Ghana Card after attempting failure to register a new one – NIA

The NIA claims that in 2022, a Chinese national who applied as a first-time foreign national applicant had her details match those of an existing application in the NIA’s system. The incident was reportedly caught on camera at the Tamale registration center.

“The registration, however, entered a technical status known as ‘RejectedDueAFIS,’ which indicated that RUIXIA HUANG’s biometrics may have coincided with those of a person who already existed in the NIS database. As a result, the registration officer asked the technical support team to conduct additional research. This revealed that “RUIXIA HUANG” had previously registered as EN HUANG in the FIMS record under the NIS database based on the biometrics given.

In line with the NIA, The NIA requested “an officially certified affidavit and a gazette as required by law to support the change of name if the details in the passport with number EJ5891162 were to be used to update her old records” from Aisha Huang after she claimed she had changed her name when questioned about the situation.

According to the Authority, the applicant was given two choices: either a renewal card would be issued to her with no modifications to her information in the NIA system, or a new card would be issued to her with her updated information after verification of the supporting documents.

On August 25, 2022, a renewed non-citizen Ghana Card was granted to her with the name En Huang and the birthdate July 7, 1986, respectively. It is believed that she chose the second choice.

Aisha Huang’s new card:

According to the NIA’s account, Aisha Huang currently owns a renewed Non-Citizen Ghana Card that was issued to her in August 2022 but still contains her previous information.

“HUANG EN decided to renew with the outdated information and then amend the information later after going through the affidavit and gazette procedures. On August 25, 2022, she received her updated Non-Citizen Ghana Card, still carrying the previous information. The card that is currently under scrutiny and trending on social media is this one, the Authority added.

Background:

She was later reported to have been deported from Ghana. Her deportation meant the state discontinued the trial against her.

Her arrest has led to calls for the heads of various state institutions and their leadership.
