Assessing the State of Adequate Housing in Ghana

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the right to adequate housing is set to embark on an official country mission to Ghana. This high-level visit aims to evaluate the current housing landscape, the ongoing urban housing deficit, and the living conditions within informal settlements across major cities like Accra and Kumasi.

As urbanization accelerates across the country, access to affordable and secure shelter remains a critical challenge for low-income earners. The UN envoy’s findings are expected to shed light on systemic gaps in housing policy and real estate development.
