UMass Lowell Student Dies by S*uc*de After Jumping from University Avenue Bridge

Lowell, Massachusetts (CNN) — A student from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UMass Lowell) has tragically died by suicide after jumping off the University Avenue Bridge, casting a shadow over the campus community.

The incident occurred in the early hours when the student, whose identity has not been released by authorities, was seen jumping from the bridge that crosses the Merrimack River. Despite the immediate response from emergency services, the student could not be saved.

This is not the first time the bridge has been the site of such a tragedy. In 2006, Ronald Wetmore took his own life there, followed by another incident in 2017 at the nearby Richard P. Howe Bridge, highlighting a concerning pattern of events at this location.
