Sports Ministry Takes Action on Black Stars Coach Residence
In a decisive move aimed at streamlining football administration and ensuring optimal working conditions for the senior national team handlers, the Ministry of Youth and Sports has officially ordered the immediate restoration of the Black Stars coach residence located in Accra.
The directive comes following growing public concern over the state of state-owned sports infrastructure and the logistics surrounding the management of Ghana’s senior national football team. Government officials have emphasized that providing a secure, well-maintained official accommodation is vital for attracting and retaining top-tier technical talent to manage the Black Stars.
Ensuring Proper Logistics for Ghana Football
For years, questions have been raised regarding the official housing arrangements for expatriate and local coaches heading the national team. By reclaiming and upgrading the designated Black Stars coach residence, the Ministry aims to cut down on unnecessary hotel accommodation costs while fostering a stable, long-term operational base in the capital.
Sources close to the Ministry indicate that renovation works are expected to commence immediately, covering structural repairs, security enhancements, and modernizing interior facilities to meet international standards. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to collaborate closely with the Sports Ministry to oversee the completion of the project ahead of upcoming international assignments.
Implications for Future National Team Appointments
Stakeholders in Ghanaian football have largely welcomed the intervention, noting that administrative readiness is just as crucial as pitch performance. With crucial qualifiers and tournament preparations on the horizon, having a fully operational Black Stars coach residence signals a renewed commitment to professionalism and institutional stability within Ghana sports administration.
The Ministry has assured the public that a transparent progress report on the renovations will be released in the coming weeks as contractors move onto the site to begin the overhaul.
