Chicago – A retired Chicago Police Department (CPD) sergeant has tragically died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to reports from local police scanner monitoring accounts on X (formerly Twitter).
The incident was first noted by the 16th & 17th District Chicago Police Scanner account, which picked up the information from Spot News, another account that provides real-time scanner updates. The event unfolded at a residence on 5730 Menard after a 911 call was placed reporting the suicide of a male friend.
Upon arriving, officers confirmed the tragic news in communications with dispatch, as heard over the scanners. “Okay, 1623, you request the ET for what?” a dispatcher inquired, to which an officer responded, “Bonafide DOA, retired sergeant, CPD, apparent self-inflicted wound.”
