Benedict Chiajulam Ihesiba Jr., better known by his stage name OG Maco, was an American rapper from College Park, Georgia, born on April 23, 1992. His career took off with the release of the single “U Guessed It” in 2014, which quickly went viral, reaching number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

  • Musical Beginnings: Raised in a musical setting, OG Maco was part of a band named Dr. Doctor where he played guitar and sang. His influences ranged from Black Sabbath to Kid Cudi, Curren$y, and Future.
  • Breakthrough: His debut single “U Guessed It” not only charted but also led to his signing with Quality Control Music in August 2014. This label played a crucial role in his early career success, releasing his first EP, “OG Maco,” which included the famous remix of “U Guessed It” with 2 Chainz.

  • Illness: In 2019, he faced a life-threatening condition when diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a flesh-eating disease, which left him with facial disfigurement due to an untreated skin rash.

Death:

  • Tragically, OG Maco’s life ended in December 2024 at the age of 32. On December 12, he suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, leading to hospitalization. Despite medical intervention, he fell into a coma and was unable to recover, passing away on December 27, 2024, as reported by TMZ.
