In a thrilling encounter at the London Stadium, Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus proved instrumental once again for West Ham United, netting his third goal of the season to salvage a 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The match, which had been relatively subdued in the first half, erupted into action post-interval. Brighton took the lead just six minutes into the second half when a misjudged cross by West Ham’s goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański fell kindly to Mats Wieffer, who composedly side-footed the ball into the net.
However, West Ham’s response was swift and decisive. Jarrod Bowen surged forward, challenging Brighton’s defense before unleashing a fierce shot. Although Brighton’s goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen managed to deflect the initial attempt, Kudus was in the right place at the right time, heading the rebound into the net in the 68th minute to restore parity.
As the game progressed, Brighton exerted considerable pressure in search of a winning goal. Yet, it was West Ham’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka who became the hero of the moment, executing a crucial goal-line clearance to preserve the draw for his team.
This result helps West Ham maintain their commendable home form, whereas Brighton might rue the missed opportunity to secure a victory.
