In a heartfelt revelation, acclaimed Ghanaian actress Lydia Forson has shared her harrowing ten-year battle with fibroids, aiming to raise awareness about this common yet often overlooked condition. Forson’s story, shared during July’s Fibroid Awareness Month, highlights the physical and emotional toll that fibroids can take on women’s lives.

Forson, known for her powerful performances on screen, recounted the severe pain she endured for a decade. “For years, I was in severe pain, sometimes so paralyzing I couldn’t move,” she revealed. Her turning point came during an emergency hospital visit, where doctors discovered she had fibroids.

The actress described the journey as more than just a physical struggle. The emotional burden, societal pressures, and fear of the unknown compounded her ordeal. “The worst part of this journey was not the surgery. Thankfully, I had great doctors who took fantastic care of me. It was the fear of the unknown,” Forson shared.

Finding the right medical team was crucial for Forson. She expressed gratitude for the doctors who provided honest but reassuring guidance, helping her through the surgery and subsequent recovery. “Today, I’m grateful that I don’t have to live in so much pain, grateful that no one else will find me on a bathroom floor too paralyzed to move,” she stated
