Lower Manya Krobo Sets Development Agenda

In a decisive move toward decentralized development, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly has officially approved a comprehensive list of 114 projects for its 2027 action plan. The ambitious blueprint is designed to address critical infrastructure gaps, boost local economic development, and improve the living standards of residents across the municipality.

The adoption of the action plan followed exhaustive deliberations during the assembly’s ordinary meeting, where local authorities prioritized projects spanning education, health, sanitation, and road networks. Municipal officials underscored the importance of prudent financial management and timely execution to ensure that the targeted communities reap the full benefits of the decentralized funds.

Key Sectors Targeted in the 2027 Action Plan

Addressing assembly members and stakeholders, municipal leadership highlighted that the 114 approved projects were carefully selected based on bottom-up needs assessments conducted within various electoral areas. Key highlights of the 2027 development strategy include:

  • Educational Infrastructure: Construction and rehabilitation of classroom blocks, provision of dual desks, and enhancement of ICT facilities in underserved basic schools.
  • Healthcare Delivery: Upgrading of community-based health planning and services (CHPS) compounds and the construction of maternity blocks to improve maternal health outcomes.
  • grading and reshaping of feeder roads to facilitate the seamless transportation of agricultural produce from farming communities to major market centers.
  • Water and Sanitation: Expansion of potable water supply systems and the construction of modern institutional toilet facilities to curb open defecation.

Ensuring Accountability and Timely Execution

To prevent the phenomenon of abandoned local government projects, the assembly has instituted a robust monitoring and evaluation framework. Municipal planning officers, civil society watchdogs, and assembly members will be mandated to conduct quarterly site inspections.

Furthermore, the Lower Manya Krobo Municipal Assembly reiterated its commitment to engaging local contractors who possess the requisite technical and financial capacity. This approach is expected to stimulate the local economy by creating jobs for artisans, laborers, and suppliers within the municipality.

As the assembly prepares to roll out the implementation phase ahead of 2027, residents and community leaders have been urged to support local revenue mobilization efforts. Stakeholders agree that sustainable internal revenue generation remains pivotal in complementing central government transfers to successfully execute all 114 outlined projects.
