U.S.-based Ghanaian political commentator Kevin Ekow Taylor has launched a scathing attack on renowned Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, branding him a “hypocrite,” “tribal bigot,” and a “cancer on Ghanaian politics” following a tweet Sarkodie posted about the inauguration of President John Dramani Mahama for his second term.
Sarkodie’s tweet, which read, “Back to gari soakings like we never left,” was perceived by many as a veiled critique of the economic conditions under the newly inaugurated National Democratic Congress (NDC) government. Although the tweet was cryptic and lacked direct context, it sparked widespread debate and criticism, with some interpreting it as a jab at the return to perceived economic hardships reminiscent of Mahama’s previous term.
Kevin Taylor, known for his no-holds-barred commentary on his platform, Loud Silence Media, did not hold back in his response. He accused Sarkodie of double standards, pointing out the rapper’s silence during the tenure of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), led by President Nana Akufo-Addo, while now openly criticizing the NDC administration.
Taylor’s critique extends to questioning Sarkodie’s motives, suggesting that his comments might be driven by tribal biases and personal financial interests. This has fueled discussions on the intersection of entertainment and politics in Ghana, where figures like Sarkodie wield significant influence over public opinion.
