Anchorage, Alaska – The snowmobile community in Alaska, along with the world, mourns the loss of Dane Ferguson, who passed away in a tragic accident on December 28, 2024. Ferguson, known for his leadership as President of the Alaska Sno-X Lions Club and his humanitarian efforts in Ukraine, left a significant mark in both spheres.
Details surrounding the accident remain limited, but the news of Ferguson’s death has rippled through the community, with many expressing their grief on social media. Cale Voos, a community member, shared his sentiments on Facebook, stating, “The snowmobile community and the world lost a truly amazing man. Rest in peace, Dane Ferguson. You will always be loved & remembered. I still remember our brief conversations like it was yesterday. Your time and the advice given truly meant the world to me.”
Ferguson was instrumental in teaching snowmachine safety to the youth through his role at the Alaskan Sno-X Lions Club. His mentorship profoundly influenced many young riders, as evidenced by tributes from those he inspired. Michael Beane from Meadow Lakes, Alaska, paid homage, saying, “RIP Dane Ferguson. You were a role model to us local valley kids and gave us motivation to start riding seriously, to have it take us places, and supported Nine07Racing from the very beginning.”
Survived by his wife, Katie, and children, Kenzie and Brody, Ferguson’s legacy extends beyond Alaska. His humanitarian work in Ukraine during the conflict with Russia showcased his dedication to helping others. Initially involved with Lions Clubs International’s anti-human trafficking unit, he later focused on providing direct aid, including medical supplies and food, and assisting in the evacuation of civilians from danger zones.
