A tragic incident has happened in Warri, Delta State, where a young woman named Brenda lost her life after meeting a man she had connected with on TikTok.
Brenda, who had been chatting with a user identified as Emmypounds for just three days, decided to spend the night at his Jakpa Road apartment. However, she never returned home, leaving her family and friends alarmed when her phone went silent for several days.
Concerned about her whereabouts, one of Brenda’s close friends—who had access to her TikTok conversations—discovered her last-known location and raised an alarm. When Brenda was finally located, she was found unconscious, bruised, wearing adult diapers, and unable to speak. She was in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.
Police Investigations Underway
Following Brenda’s death, Emmypounds told police that she had fallen ill suddenly during the night and was rushed to the hospital. He claimed they had both slept in the same room, only to wake up and find her in distress.
Authorities have since detained Emmypounds, who also exhibited signs of illness—allegedly due to inhaling generator fumes, a possible cause of Brenda’s death according to preliminary investigations.
The Delta State Police spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the case is not currently being treated as a murder investigation, but further inquiries are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Brenda’s death.
