American rapper Wiz Khalifa recently shared his perspective on the optimal duration for dating before marriage in a discussion on the ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast. He argued that couples should spend at least a decade together to gain deep insights into each other, their families, and the realities of cohabitation.
“People should date for 10 years before getting married because that’s long enough to know the person, their family, and who you’re going to deal with when you move in together,” Khalifa stated, underlining the importance of a substantial time commitment for a solid marital foundation.
On the subject of living together, Khalifa noted that there isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. “It depends on the situation and the circumstances. Some people move in right away and still need time to figure it out,” he said, highlighting the need for flexibility based on individual relationship dynamics.
As a father of two, he also emphasized how extended dating periods reveal multiple facets of a partner’s personality. “If you don’t move in right away, you’ll learn that there’s one version of the person when you’re not sharing things and a different version when you are,” he elaborated.
