I’ve dollars, I’ll pay twice of what competitors will offer delegates – Bibiani MP :The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary ticket for the 2024 general election is something that Alfred Obeng-Boateng, the member of parliament for the Bibiani Anhwiaso Constituency, has made clear he is willing to buy from NPP delegates.

The MP said in a popular audio clip shared by Sompa FM that he paid as much as GHC3,000 per delegate during the previous primaries and that he is prepared to compete with any rivals in terms of delegate payment.

“I knew from the beginning that despite all the opposition I encountered while assuming my position, people would band together more forces and resources to support a single opponent.

So, in light of everything, I am aware of everyone’s financial capacity and upper limit. So I am aware of how much they can easily pull without being concerned. You can give out GHC1,000 to each person without hesitation when you have, let’s say, a million Ghana cedis.

The MP stated, “So, with roughly 1,200 delegates, we are set to go for primaries. The last time, we spent at least GHC3,000 each individual, and the primaries are coming again.

In order to protect himself from the effects of inflation, he stressed that he had particularly stored money in dollars. He also stated that he was willing to pay up to GHC 20,000 to each of the 2,200 delegates in the constituency in order to guarantee the party’s parliamentary ticket.

To be completely honest with you, I’m telling you that the funding for the primaries has been secured in dollars and has been for a long time. I will not, under any circumstances, touch that money.

I am laughing because I have money there for the primaries and I see everything they are doing. What I can say to my delegates is that I will pay more than twice what any challenger to me will offer them, and they should accept that from me. I will provide more than that if they agree to pay GHC10,000 per delegate. Because I am aware of how much I have invested and how much I have set aside, I will pay more than GHC 20,000, regardless of what they pay. To prevent the currency from losing value, I saved in dollars because of this,” he said.

As the Vice Chair of the Government Assurance Committee of the Parliament, Alfred Obeng-Boateng is a new member of the legislature.

Prior to the 2024 national elections, the NPP is getting ready to choose a flagbearer and parliamentary candidates.
