Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang Expresses Gratitude After Recovery, Lauds Ibrahim Mahama for Support
Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has returned home after a period of medical leave abroad, expressing deep appreciation for the unwavering support she received during her recovery.
Upon her arrival at Kotoka International Airport on May 22, 2025, she addressed well-wishers, acknowledging the efforts of her medical team, her family, and President John Dramani Mahama. She also made a heartfelt tribute to businessman Ibrahim Mahama, the brother of the President, for his exceptional care during her time in the hospital.
“I want to thank all of you—your prayers, your good wishes. I can’t thank you enough. I am very grateful,” she said. “But I must single out, beyond family and friends, your brother Ibrahim Mahama. He spared no effort to ensure I had everything I needed. He also came to the hospital and sat by me, and that in itself was healing. So, my little boss, I am very grateful.”
Her return was met with a warm reception from top government officials, including President Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama. Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Vice President’s Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia, the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church, and members of her family were also present to welcome her back.
With her recovery behind her, Professor Opoku-Agyemang is expected to resume her official duties, including a series of engagements in the coming days. Her office is set to release further updates on her schedule soon.
Her emotional homecoming marks a significant moment as she prepares to re-engage with national affairs, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in shaping Ghana’s future.
