The dates of the late attorney Anthony Akoto Ampaw’s funeral have been set for December 15–17, 2023.
The announcement was made by the family during the one-week celebration that took place at his Accra mansion on Sunday, November 6, 2023.
Following a protracted illness, attorney Akoto Ampaw passed away at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) on October 20, 2023.
A large number of dignitaries and prominent members of the ruling New Patriotic Party attended the one-week celebration.
Context
Heading the legal team that went to the Supreme Court to defend President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s victory in the 2020 presidential election was Akoto Ampaw.
After the president signed the Office of Special Prosecutor Bill, the attorney was expected to be named the Special Prosecutor.
Known as “Che Che” from his time as a University of Ghana student, Mr. Ampaw was a member of the legal team for the New Patriotic Party during the 2013 Election Petition.
He is a partner at Akufo-Addo, Prempeh & Co., the lawyer.
In the legal community, attorney Ampaw has an immaculate reputation for standing up for fair justice and human rights causes.
He received his LL.B. from the University of Ghana in 1973 and his B.L. from the Ghana School of Law in 1993.
