Muan, South Korea -South Korea Plane Crash, A horrific plane crash at Muan International Airport has left 179 passengers dead after a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok met with disaster during its landing attempt. Out of the 181 individuals on board, only two from the flight crew survived the incident.

The tragedy unfolded when the Boeing 737-800, after a routine flight from Bangkok, failed to deploy its landing gear, likely due to a bird strike. This caused the aircraft to skid off the runway, crash into a barrier, and ignite into flames. The crash has been confirmed as one of the deadliest in South Korean aviation history.

A bird strike, where an aircraft collides with a bird, is a common hazard in aviation. In the UK alone, more than 1,400 such incidents were reported in 2022, with roughly 100 impacting aircraft operations, according to the Civil Aviation Authority. However, in this case, the consequences were devastating.

Visual evidence from the scene depicted the aircraft veering off the runway, striking a wall, and then exploding into a fireball. The aftermath has left the community in mourning and the aviation sector in shock.

In response to the tragedy, South Korea’s acting President, Choi Sung-mok, has mandated a thorough investigation to ascertain the precise causes of the crash. He has also committed to supporting the rescue operations and providing assistance to the families affected by this calamity. The focus now is not only on mourning the loss but also on ensuring that such an event does not occur again through stringent preventive measures and safety enhancements.
