Shooting at Mall of Georgia Leaves High School Football Star Joel Bradford injured

BUFORD, GEORGIA – A violent incident at the Mall of Georgia on Saturday, January 4, has left Joel Bradford, a 15-year-old football star from Grayson High School, injured. The shooting occurred shortly before 9:30 p.m. when gunfire erupted, prompting a rapid response from security personnel.

The injured teenager, identified by his family as Joel Bradford, was treated at a local hospital after being found with a gunshot wound at the scene. Bradford, a sophomore, is known for his prowess on the field as a running back for Grayson High School’s varsity football team and also plays as a point guard on the basketball team. Standing at 5’11” and weighing 183 lbs, he has already attracted attention from colleges like the Georgia Bulldogs and Pittsburgh Panthers.

Following the incident, an 18-year-old named Khaden Javir Williams from DeKalb County was apprehended while attempting to flee the scene. He faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and is currently detained without bond.

Aukesha Curry, a family member, has initiated a fundraiser on Spotfund to support Bradford’s recovery, stating, “This fundraiser has been created to assist Joel Bradford and his family on his journey of recovery. Joel is just beginning on his road to recovery but we know that our Champion will successfully get there with your continued support and love in action.”

This event has not only shaken the local community but also highlighted the increasing concerns over safety in public spaces, drawing attention from around the globe.
