Prominent Ghanaian Blogger Kobby Kyei Graduates from UPSA with Master’s in Media and Digital Communications

Award-winning Ghanaian blogger Augustus Koranteng Kyei, popularly known as Kobby Kyei, has graduated with a Master’s degree in Media and Digital Communications Management from the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), marking a significant milestone in his career as a digital storyteller and social advocate.

Kyei celebrated the achievement on social media, sharing photos from the convocation ceremony and reflecting on the challenges of balancing his thriving career with advanced studies. “This journey wasn’t easy, but it proves one thing: with vision, consistency, and faith, you can balance purpose, passion, and education,” he posted on X, where he has over 362,000 followers. His post, which quickly garnered widespread engagement, highlighted the personal growth he gained through the program, aligning with his mantra, “#PolishTillYouShine.”

Since launching his blogging platform in 2017, Kyei has evolved from covering lifestyle and entertainment to championing humanitarian causes and social development. His content spotlights underrepresented stories, earning him recognition as a catalyst for change in Ghana’s media landscape. His accolades include Online Media Personality of the Year at the National Communications Awards, Best Youth Blogger at the Youth Excellence Awards, Tertiary Star Role Model of the Year at the Ghana Tertiary Awards, and Best Blogger at the Ghana Web Excellence Awards.

Kyei’s high-profile interviews include international figures like former French Ambassador to Ghana Anne Sophie and Norway’s Ambassador to Ghana, showcasing his ability to bridge global and local narratives. In 2025, he launched the “Boys Lives Matter” campaign to address mental and emotional health challenges among young boys in Ghana, a cause he describes as a “call to action for safer spaces and mentorship.” The initiative has gained significant traction, earning endorsements from influencers and policymakers.

The MA in Media and Digital Communications Management at UPSA, designed to equip professionals with skills in digital strategy, audience engagement, and ethical media practices, was a perfect fit for Kyei. The curriculum focuses on navigating the evolving digital landscape to foster innovative communication for both commercial and public sectors. Kyei’s engagement with UPSA extended beyond academics, as he endorsed campus events like comedy specials and covered empowerment programs such as Women of Valour at the university’s auditorium.

In a June 2025 opinion piece, Kyei called for government intervention in social media regulation, advocating a balanced approach to mute harmful voices while amplifying positive contributors, sparking national debate on digital ethics. His inclusion in Avance Media’s 2021 list of 50 Most Influential Young Ghanaians underscores his growing influence as a thought leader.

UPSA continues to produce leaders in communication, with the program coordinator emphasizing its role in preparing graduates for a competitive edge in the dynamic field of digital media.
