Profile of Okudzeto Ablakwa – Foreign Affairs Minister-designate

Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa is a seasoned Ghanaian politician, currently serving as a four-term member of parliament for the North Tongu constituency in the Volta Region. His career in public service stretches over two decades, marked by a commitment to ethical, transparent, and transformative leadership.

Ablakwa has held significant roles in Ghana’s legislative body, notably as the Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee for nearly eight years from 2017 to 2024. He was also the inaugural Chairman of the reformed Assurances Committee and is now leading President John Mahama’s anti-corruption initiative, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).

His political journey includes significant appointments such as Deputy Minister for Information in 2009, where he became the youngest person to hold this position in Ghana’s Fourth Republic under President John Evans Atta Mills. Subsequently, in 2013, he was appointed Deputy Minister for Education by President John Dramani Mahama, focusing on tertiary education.
