A 22-year-old hairdressing trainee, Maa Adwoa, died after extensive bleeding caused by an illicit medicine given by her boyfriend, 27-year-old Emmanuel Addo, to abort her pregnancy. The death in Assin Nsuta, Central Region, happened on November 23, 2023. The boyfriend is currently under police custody while the victim’s family and the local community leaders try to resolve the situation outside court.
The High Court in Accra dismissed sexual harassment claims against former Chief Finance Officer of First Atlantic Bank, Ernest Kwasi Nimako, by Deborah Seyram Adablah, citing insufficient evidence. Adablah, a former National Service Person at the bank, admitted to a consensual relationship with Nimako, damaging her case. The Court also ordered her to pay GH¢10,000 to the defendants.
