Some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have strongly criticized media personality Nana Aba Anamoah for challenging President John Dramani Mahama’s decision regarding the appointment of Obuobia Darko-Opoku.
In a series of posts on X, Nana Aba argued that Obuobia, who she praised for her tireless campaign efforts, intellect, and loyalty to the NDC, deserved a more prominent role than her current position as Deputy Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL). She highlighted Obuobia’s extensive work during the December 7, 2024, elections, stating, “Obuobia didn’t just campaign. She connected. From dawn meetings at Keta to late-night rallies at Techiman, she showed up.” Nana Aba further emphasized that Obuobia’s dedication warranted a role with greater national impact.
However, NDC supporters have expressed discontent with Nana Aba’s comments, viewing them as an insinuation that President Mahama’s judgment is flawed. Insiders noted that the GACL had no prior Deputy Managing Director position, suggesting that Mahama created this role specifically for Obuobia. They also pointed out that many other NDC members worked hard for the party’s victory but have not received appointments, yet they remain supportive of the president’s leadership.
