According to the most recent information made public by the Ghana Health Service, at least twenty-seven (27) Senior High School (SHS) pupils in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region have contracted HIV/AIDS (GHS)

Other Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) are on the rise, according to Municipal Health Director Mrs. Elsie Kissi-Appiah, who urged residents to be cautious and take precautions.

I’m sorry to have to let you know that 27 SHS students have developed HIV/AIDS as a result of unprotected sex and multiple sex partners. At a presentation held by the local Ministry of Local Government and Decentralization and Rural Development, she declared, “Teen pregnancy is also on the rise.”

Collins Ntim, the deputy minister for local government, lamented the circumstance and urged all parties to drop their guard.

The Minister remarked, “The government is also interested in offering free antiretroviral medications, and one can go for them.”

The National STIs and HIV/AIDS Control Programme’s Programme Manager, Dr. Stephen Ayisi Addo, recently revealed that 23,495 persons tested positive for HIV in the first half of this year.

350,000 people were predicted to be HIV-positive in the country as of December 2021, but only 71% had been detected by the control program.

Be aware that approximately 245,000 of those people, or 99 percent, were receiving treatment as of June this year.
