The results of the by-election held on May 23 in the Kumawu Constituency of the Ashanti Region have been announced, with Ernest Yaw Anim of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) winning.
In the valid vote count, the NPP received 15,264 (70.91%), while Kwasi Amankwaa of the National Democratic Congress received 3,723 (17.29%).
The first independent candidate, Kwaku Duah, received 2478 votes (11.51%), while the second Kwaku Duah received 62 votes (0.029%).
The official pronouncement of Anim as the poll’s victor and, consequently, the constituency’s new Member of Parliament, was made by the Electoral Commission in charge of the election.
