Prominent Ghanaian media personality Afia Schwarzenegger has made startling claims about Ken Ofori-Atta, Ghana’s former Finance Minister, asserting that he is currently evading justice in the South of France. According to Schwarzenegger, Ofori-Atta has hidden misappropriated funds from Ghana in bank accounts in Guyana.

In a video statement released after the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) declared Ofori-Atta a fugitive, Schwarzenegger suggested she possesses crucial information for the ongoing investigation. She alleges that Ofori-Atta, along with his cousin, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, owns properties in France.

Ofori-Atta, who was Ghana’s Finance Minister from 2017 to 2024 under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, was officially declared wanted by Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng on February 12, 2025. The declaration came after Ofori-Atta failed to cooperate with the OSP’s investigation into several high-profile corruption cases, including those related to the National Cathedral and contracts with Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).

The OSP had summoned Ofori-Atta for questioning, but his legal team responded by claiming he was out of the country indefinitely for medical treatment. This has led to skepticism about his intentions, with the OSP and now public figures like Schwarzenegger questioning his whereabouts and financial dealings.

Schwarzenegger went further to state that she could potentially provide details of the bank accounts in Guyana in a few weeks, contingent on her investigations confirming her allegations.
