Harlan Rogers Crow (born 1949) is an American-Kittitian real estate developer. He is the former chairman and CEO of the Trammell Crow Company, which was founded by his father, Trammell Crow. His father was described as the “largest landlord in the United States” by Forbes magazine.
Early Life and Education
Crow was born in Dallas, Texas, the third son of Margaret Doggett Crow and real estate developer Trammell Crow. Margaret Crow survived the sinking of the SS Athenia, the first British ship sunk by Nazi Germany during World War II. He has four brothers and one sister.
Crow attended high school at the Randolph-Macon Academy in Front Royal, Virginia. He later attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, before he transferred to the University of Texas where he received a BBA.
Career
Crow began his career at the Trammell Crow Company in 1974 as an industrial leasing agent in Houston. He held a variety of positions at the firm before assuming overall responsibilities for the business in 1988. During his tenure as CEO, Crow Holdings grew and strengthened its position as a leader in the real estate investment business.
Under Crow’s leadership, the Trammell Crow Company developed and acquired billions of dollars in real estate assets, including office buildings, retail centers, industrial properties, and multifamily apartments. The firm also expanded its international operations, with offices in London, Paris, Mexico City, and Shanghai.
In 2018, Crow stepped down as CEO of Crow Holdings but remained chairman of the board. The firm is now managed by his son, Jack Crow.
Personal Life
Crow is married to Kathy Crow and they have three children: Jack, Rob, and Sarah. He is also a director on the boards of several organizations, including the American Enterprise Institute, the George W. Bush Presidential Center, and the Southwestern Medical Foundation.
