Salem, Utah – In a heart-wrenching turn of events, 22-year-old Morgan Hodson Hughes from Salem, Utah, succumbed to complications following childbirth. Morgan, a recent hair school graduate and new mother, passed away on December 28th, just days after delivering her twins, Hudson and Georgia, on December 19th.
The twins, born prematurely, are currently receiving care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The tragedy has left Morgan’s husband, Sam Hughes, aged 23, to care for their newborns alone. In response, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by Sarah Thorne, a local from Salem, to support Sam and the twins during this devastating time.
The fundraiser, which aimed to raise $80,000, has successfully garnered about $70,338 to date. It highlights Morgan’s vibrant spirit and love for her family, describing her as not only a dedicated wife and mother but also a cherished daughter, sister, and friend. “Morgan was young, only 22. She just graduated hair school, while pregnant, and was starting her career,” the fundraiser notes, painting a picture of a young woman with dreams and love to share.
The loss has deeply affected the community, with numerous condolences flooding the fundraiser page. One message poignantly read, “We can’t even begin to imagine your loss. We’re praying for you and your sweet babies.”
As the Hughes family navigates this profound loss, the community’s support through the GoFundMe donations aims to ease some of the financial burdens they face, ensuring that Hudson and Georgia have the resources needed in their early days without their mother. The story of Morgan Hughes has touched many hearts, reminding us of life’s fragility and the strength found in communal support.
