God Will Provide for Unplanned Children-Apostle Eric Nyamekye

Apostle Eric Nyamekye, Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, has ignited a wave of online reactions following a sermon in which he passionately urged congregants to reject abortion, even in cases of unplanned pregnancies. In a viral video circulating on social media, Nyamekye emphasized that “God will take care of the child,” drawing both praise and criticism for his stance.

Speaking to his congregation, Nyamekye shared a personal anecdote about facing judgment from fellow pastors for having six children. “They gossiped, asking how I could read the Bible with all these children,” he recounted. “Someone even said it disturbs my ministry, but I’m still standing here.” Dismissing concerns that large families hinder financial stability or ministerial duties, he declared, “The God that can take care of one will take care of the tenth.”

Nyamekye clarified that he was not encouraging excessively large families but was firmly against abortion, which he described as “an abominable act.” He challenged his congregants, saying, “Don’t kill your baby once you fall pregnant. Can you compare a house to a human being?” While advocating for safe sex, he urged those facing unplanned pregnancies to carry them to term, assuring them divine provision. “Stay safe. But if you fall pregnant, give birth cleanly,” he concluded.

The sermon has polarized opinions online. Supporters commend Nyamekye’s pro-life message, aligning with religious values that prioritize the sanctity of life. Critics, however, argue that his remarks overlook the economic realities of raising children in Ghana, where financial constraints can make parenting multiple children challenging. Some social media users questioned the practicality of his advice, pointing to rising living costs and limited social support systems.

The debate reflects broader tensions in Ghanaian society between faith-based convictions and socioeconomic pressures, with Nyamekye’s sermon adding fuel to ongoing discussions about family planning, abortion, and personal responsibility.
