Dr. Shaibu Husseini, the Executive Director/CEO of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB), recently announced the prohibition of certain elements in Nigerian films.     • The government has approved the prohibition of money rituals and the glamorization of vices in Nollywood movies.

    • In addition to money rituals, the display of smoking scenes has also been banned.
    • Glamorizing smoking in films can negatively impact teens and young adults, who form a significant portion of the Nigerian movie audience.
  3. Collaboration for Healthier Content:
    • The NFVCB encourages collaboration with filmmakers, producers, and actors to create smoke-free movies.
    • Detailed enlightenment programs will be conducted in schools, communities, and other institutions to raise awareness about the dangers of smoking in films.
