The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has declared a significant victory in its battle against human trafficking and economic fraud, arresting 320 individuals during simultaneous operations in Kumasi linked to the controversial QNET network.

In a press statement released today, EOCO detailed the outcome of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit’s coordinated raids at two undisclosed locations. Preliminary evaluations reveal that 25 of those detained are classified as potential suspects, while the remaining 295 are believed to be victims ensnared in human trafficking schemes and employment scams masquerading under the QNET brand.

“The operations are a result of meticulous investigations conducted by EOCO over several months, demonstrating our commitment to detecting, investigating, and prosecuting economic and organised crime,” the statement read. It further noted that the suspects and victims are currently undergoing screening, with the 25 identified suspects facing additional probes. This marks what EOCO describes as the largest anti-human trafficking operation in Ghana to date.

The Kumasi raids follow a similar action two weeks prior in Kasoa, where over 26 persons were apprehended in connection with related activities.

EOCO emphasized its collaboration with QNET to address the misuse of the company’s name by fraudsters. “We commend the collaborative efforts of QNET in this regard and look forward to continued cooperation to bring perpetrators to justice,” the office stated.

Highlighting its broader mandate, EOCO reassured the public of its unwavering dedication to combating organised crime and urged citizens to report suspicious activities through its official channels.

The statement, signed by the Head of Public Affairs on behalf of the Executive Director, underscores a proactive stance amid rising concerns over multi-level marketing schemes exploited for illicit purposes in Ghana.

Authorities have not released further details on the locations or identities involved, citing ongoing investigations. EOCO continues to encourage vigilance, with contact options including its head office in Accra, email at eoco@eoco.gov.gh, and social media handles @EOCOGhana on X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook.
