A 55-year-old highlife musician from Delta State, Nigeria, known locally as Dr. Arube Otor or Isoko Fela One, is set to marry three women on the same day. The event is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2025, at the Anglican Church Field in London Base, Uzere Kingdom, Isoko South Local Government Area.
Dr. Arube Otor has shared his wedding plans through social media, posting pre-wedding photos with his brides-to-be, Oghenekome, Ewoma, and Oghenekaro, on his official Facebook page. The musician, who hails from Uzere Kingdom, is marrying women from different parts of Delta State, highlighting the diversity within the region.
This unusual wedding arrangement was confirmed by Arube’s foster son, Emperor Efih (Oscar), who explained to the press that initially, there were plans to marry four women, but one of the intended brides withdrew for personal reasons. Efih stated that this decision was partly made to economize the wedding expenses, as Arube had previously been married to two women, one of whom divorced him, leaving him with one wife before this event.
Arube Otor, a legend in the Delta highlife music scene, has been in the industry for over 30 years. Before becoming a full-time musician, he worked as a driver and mixed music with his career. He formed his dance band, named Arube, about 12 years ago and has since released more than 10 albums.
The news of this unique wedding has sparked discussions and reactions across social media platforms, with many expressing both curiosity and congratulations. However, it’s worth noting that this practice, while not common, reflects cultural nuances in some Nigerian communities where polygamy is accepted or even celebrated.
