Social media was abuzz today with false reports claiming the passing of Ghanaian highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, better known as Daddy Lumba. Legend Rest In Peace,” alongside a photo of the artist. Another user, @ericboatenggh, expressed skepticism, hoping the news was untrue. These unverified claims caused alarm among fans, prompting a swift response from Daddy Lumba’s Public Relations Officer, Philip Appiah Kubi, known as Roman Fada.In an interview with Beatwaves, Roman Fada dismissed the rumors as “baseless and harmful,” assuring fans that “Daddy Lumba is very much alive and working on new music.” He urged the public to ignore the misinformation and refrain from spreading unverified claims. “The legend is healthy and has more to offer,” he added.This is not the first time Daddy Lumba has faced such rumors. Similar false reports surfaced in 2013, 2015, and 2020, all debunked by the artist and his team. In 2020, Roman Fada warned of potential legal action against those spreading such falsehoods. He also addressed unrelated allegations linking Lumba to the deaths of musicians Dada KD and Anokye Supremo (Daddy Lumba Jr.), calling them “utterly false” and irresponsible.Daddy Lumba, born on September 29, 1964, in Nsuta, Ashanti Region, has enjoyed a prolific career since the 1980s, releasing 33 albums, including classics like *Aben Wɔha* and *Sika Asɛm*. His most recent single, *Ofon Na Edi Asem Fo*, dropped in December 2022, and he is reportedly working on his 34th album, *Nipa Fon Na Ɛka Nsɛm Fon*. Beyond music, Lumba owns DLFM 106.9 in Accra and has mentored artists like Ofori Amponsah.The musician’s team called on media outlets and individuals to verify information before sharing, emphasizing the harm caused by such rumors.
