Use chicken poop as Fertilizer – COCOBOD CEO to farmers

The Chief Executive officer of COCOBOD, Joseph Boahen Aidoo, has asked Cocoa farmers in the country to search for chicken poop to fertilize their cocoa farms warning of an imminent acute shortage of fertilizer in the country.

He said the looming shortage is a result of the Russia and Ukraine war with no end in sight.

Addressing a durbar at Sefwi Eluokrom in the Juaboso District of the Western North region as part of his working visit to the region, Mr. Boahen Adidoo said, Russia-Ukraine, and Belarus are the largest exporters of chemicals such as ammonia nitrate, urea, NPK used in manufacturing fertilizers, however, the war has seized importation of these chemicals creating a global shortage.

Mr. Boahen Aidoo, therefore, stressed that it is time farmers are told the truth, “it is about time we call a spade a spade and let the farmers know the real situation on the ground but due to politics when you say something people will turn it to score a cheap political point”.

He continued “the chemicals that are used to produce fertilizer are in short supply because these countries are at war so all over the world countries that produce fertilizer are unable to import these chemicals. So, Nana, I am forewarning all farmers about this difficult situation. The last time when I said it, I was taken out of context. Some people said that Chief Executive says government will not give fertilizers to cocoa farmers in the coming year. Nana, that was not what I said. I was only sounding a warning that because of the war there will be a shortage of fertilizer ”

The CEO of COCOBOD admonished the cocoa farmers to use poultry manure instead.

“So all that I am saying is that everyone must prepare for this tough time. I also want to admonish you to search for chicken poops. The poultry manure is very good for cocoa trees. We are in this country but Ivory coast farmers come to Dormaa to buy the poultry droppings sometimes in five articulated vehicles and transport them to their country. so we should also search for this chicken poop. It is a very good fertilizer. Ferment it for three months to decompose before you apply.”

Chief of Eluokrom Nana Ahwoi Payin II commended COCOBOD for initiating programs such as rehabilitation, pruning, and hand pollination among others which have increased the yield of farmers.

UK accepted Ghana’s drill after ‘Sore’ remix – Tim Westwood

Award-winning international DJ and radio presenter, Tim Westwood, has disclosed that the United Kingdom accepted Ghana’s ‘drill’ branded as ‘Asakaa Music’ after ‘Sore’ remix which featured Stormzy.

The Drill genre just like the Trap music is identically a Hip-Hop subgenre tune popularized in places like Chicago, London, New York among others. However, the Ghanaian version of the drill music was initially championed by the youngsters from ‘Kumerica’ and has begun to dominate Ghana’s music industry in the last couple of years, making waves on the international scene.

In an exclusive interview with Kojo Manuel on Y107.9 FM’s “Drye of Your Lyfe” radio show, the celebrated DJ noted that the “Year of Return” for the diaspora also contributed to the massive rise of the new sound.

“The powerful moment for the drill music was when Stomzy was featured on Yaw Tog song. The powerful moment was when they came home during the homecoming in Ghana for Christmas. I think that’s when it had its biggest moments. They brought those massive records back to the UK. You know now everything is on Snapchat, TikTok, and stuff like that, so everyone is really paying attention to what’s happening to the people here in Ghana and how they are living the experience.”

Tim Westwood touched down in Ghana on Tuesday, 12 April for a buzzing club party in both Emperor Night Club in Kumasi and Kruna Club in Osu on Thursday and Friday.

Eight killed as gunmen raid settlements near Yendi

Eight people have been killed and several others missing after an attack Wednesday afternoon on a village of Fulani herders at Zakoli near Yendi in the Northern Region.

The gunmen surrounded the village at about 1 pm, according to a survivor who was spared because she is a woman.

According to her, the gunmen separated women and children on one side and killed only the men. She says most of them were shot at close range.

The attackers burnt down the entire settlement and left others with machete injuries.

Dozens of livestock were killed and looted with motorcycles and other properties.

“When they came, they separated the men here, women and children here, and they killed all the men”, the elderly woman recounts the horror she witnessed.

” They killed my husband and his brother and burned our house to ashes”.

The gunmen after the attack retreated into the bushes and their identity is yet to be established.

Security sources however suspect angry locals could be behind it, as a reprisal for the killing of a young native teacher earlier in the morning.

The secondary school teacher identified as a tribal konkomba was said to be on his way to school when armed men suspected to be robbers attacked and killed him.

The sources conclude that this could have been the reason for the violence against members of the Fulani community who are accused of being involved in such crimes.

The village of the attack is less than 12kms from Yendi. Security personnel who were deployed to the scene arrived after the attackers had long fled from the area.

Accompanied by personnel of the Ambulance Service, the security personnel conveyed the bodies of the victims to be transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue.

“They have emptied the village. There is no man in this village again. The soldiers are also leaving us, so will just wait for our turn to be killed”, the woman laments as the security forces leave the village with the bodies.

The insults and mockery  killed Psalm Adjeteyfio – Reggie N Bollie

0

UK-based music duo Reggie and Bollie say Ghanaians are responsible for the death of veteran actor Psalm Adjeteyfio popularly known as T.T.

Psalm Adjeteyfio, also known as T.T., was a Ghanaian actor who featured in movies and videos. Born in Ghana, then known as Gold Coast, he was best known for the lead character T.T in the Ghanaian TV series Taxi Driver.

He recently launched an appeal for help and received assistance from persons including the Chief of Staff and Vice President Bawumia. He died in his sleep some days ago.

Reggie and Bollie expressed unhappiness about the criticism many Ghanaians leveled against Psalm Adjeteyfio when he came out to seek for help.

Many Ghanaians criticized TT for being ungrateful. Reggie and Bollie believe that contributed to his death

“TT was a legend and you guys made him pay for trying to entertain a country which doesn’t respect creative arts and entertainment industry.” The music group said.

“Those of you who were mocking and vilifying him for publicly asking for help can have your field day today.  Social media has gotten most of you blinded and insensitive to your fellow human being’s deepest pain and predicaments,  all for what? a couple of likes and platform engagement” they added.

“You lot have lost the plot and it’s sad, you killed your own hero with mockery and insults, a sad day for Ghana movies and the entire entertainment industry.

“A day is coming when the government and politicians would have to go on movie sets and recording studios in order to entertain Ghanaians cuz our country has disappointed entertainers and creatives BIG TIME!!. RIP TT.You served your Nation great” they posted.

The Lady by the name Ada Uburu has taken the bold step to call off her traditional marriage and wedding because of the attitude of hid to be husband who is an abuser and she has suffered One Year in a Toxic Relationship.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

The said Lady is a Nigerian and the wedding was supposed to happen on April 16 2022,

Below is the full statement from the Lady and Nigerians are happy for the bold decision

Hello Guys!!!

I never wanted to bring this here but I have to, I am a type of person who likes to keep my relationship away from social media but this is for clarification purposes.

This was my secondary school classmate who I thought I knew to an extent. On December 28, 2020 he did the 1st and 2nd stage in my family marriage list which bride price happened to be on the 2nd stage which he paid. After he paid my bride price he started maltreating me.

2021 was hell for me that at some point I left home, after everything we settled around November 2021 which he promised he will never beat me again. But still nothing CHANGED.

This is my reason why I am CALLING OFF the Traditional Marriage (Igba Ngwu) and White Wedding ceremony between me and DAVID OKIKE OFF. (Beating me was not part of the agreement in our Marriage)

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

This Saturday should have been my traditional and white wedding ceremony day…. I supposed to be happy but I am not.

For couple of months now I have been going through a lot.

I have been in a TOXIC RELATIONSHIP for OVER a YEAR now.. I am aware that this may be a shock to many people, especially people from my Home Town. My supposed husband HIT and ABUSE me in any slightest provocation, just small misunderstanding without minding what condition I am into.

Because I have chosen ME and I will not live my entire life facing DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. My supposed husband is full of RAGE, BEATING me with his Belt, Stick, Broom is his DAILY ROUTINE, Many a times he had lifted his hammer 🔨 on me and this Monday last week just because of little misunderstanding he beat me mercilessly and on the process of it he rushed into his mother’s kitchen for a cutlass, when I noticed he’s going for a weapon I locked the door behind him which he forcefully opened, both his mother and Sisters and some neighbors were begging him not to cut me with the cutlass … With all these things and more I am fed up.

I AM CALLING OFF THE WEDDING AND TRADITIONAL MARRIAGE (IGBA NGWU) BETWEEN ME AND DAVID OKIKE that supposed to hold on this Saturday 16th, April 2022.

Please to my family and friends I am so sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused you 🙏🏿

But I will not end up with a man who always promise that if I didn’t kill him, that he will kill me.

I am still suffering from unstoppable headache I sustained from the head injury he gave me 3 weeks ago.

The “bride price paid” will be Returned in due time.

Please Respect my choices. Thanks and God bless you all.

NPP office closed down by landlord

The Ashanti Regional office of the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) at Krofrom has been locked up by the owner of the property.

It will be recalled that the landlady and some family members stormed the party office some months ago to lock it up over the failure of the party to pay its rent.

The landlady during the incident said the NPP Ashanti branch headed by Mr Atwi Boasiako well known as Chairman Wontumi had refused to pay her 3 years rent arrears of an amount of Ghc36, 000.

The case forced Wontumi, the Ashanti NPP Regional Chairman to tour various radio and TV stations to debunk the landlady’s claim. He said the party had paid all rent arrears and was going to sue the woman for defamation.

After the earlier action, there were several meetings between the said landlady, some family members and Ashanti Regional Executives of the governing New Patriotic Party.

MyNewsGh.com visit to the party office today can confirm that the office has been locked for some weeks now.

The party’s daily activities at the office have since been halted due to the closure.

According to some residents, the landlady of the facility evicted the ruling NPP from the office about 3 weeks ago.

A close source has hinted that the party’s affairs in recent times are being administered at Wontumi’s radio and TV stations premises at Asokwa.

Meanwhile, the NPP’s yet-to-be-completed party office at Asafo Dadiesoba has been left to rot in the bush despite the party being evicted from their Krofrom office.

Some party members who spoke to this website on the closure of the office argued that Chairman Wontumi is unconcerned about the closure because once the affairs of the party are being managed in his media houses, he will seize the opportunity to manipulate the impending NPP regional elections.

Kumasi Shoe Factory to Penetrate market in Ghana.

The Kumasi Shoe Factory (DIHOC Footwear Division Limited) has taken craftsmanship a notch higher with the mass production of fashionable shoes to capture Ghana and Africa’s shoe market.

Over the years, the shoe factory has been producing safety and security boots and shoes for the country’s security services and recently expanded its production to cover specifications and designs suitable for Ghana’s shoe market.

The Kumasi Shoe Factory, also known as DIHOC Footwear Division, is a joint venture between a Czech Republic-based company, Knights a.s., acting through its subsidiary, Knight Ghana Limited and DIHOC Holding Company, owned by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).

The total capacity of the factory is about 700,000 pairs of assorted boots and shoes with a current production capacity of 100,000 pairs annually, hence the introduction of fashionable shoes to scale up production.

The new designs were showcased at the company’s first showroom in Accra, Burma Camp after mass production started in 2018.

The Vice President, Mr Mahamudu Bawumia, in the company of the Madam Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, Chief of Staff, last week, inspected and inaugurated the Defence Industries Holding Company Limited (DIHOC) and cut sod for various projects under the holding of the Company.

(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});

He said such state and private sector collaboration was crucial in Ghana’s quest to enhance its economy.

Dr Karl Laryea, Chief Executive Officer of DIHOC Footwear Division Limited, said as part of efforts to revive the Kumasi Shoe Factory, the Company started the production of shoes and safety boots for the Ghana Armed Forces and other security agencies from November 2012.

“This time round, we’re trying to open our market to all Ghanaians with the production of fashionable shoes,” he said, and explained that the essence was to target women with the production of lady’s wear and shoes for diabetic patients to be launched in 2023.

The CEO said the Company was faced with some production difficulties as some of the rubber manufactured in Takoradi was bought from Europe because it was owned by a foreign company that shipped all its rubber to Europe.

He said plans were afoot to revive the “Achimota Sandals Policy” started by Dr Kwame Nkrumah in the 1960s where the Kumasi Shoe Factory produced sandals for school children, adding that there was a similar arrangement by the previous government to about 250,000 pairs yearly for deprived schools.

Reviving such an initiative, he said, would enable the Company to employ more workers to meet the increasing demands.

He said because leathers for production were not produced in Ghana but brought from India and sometimes Argentina, it would be prudent if the Government gave it some tax reliefs for a period of five years to enable them to produce the shoes at affordable prices for school children and the populace.

“If possible, we are also asking the Government to give us some Offtake Agreement for five years to enable us to produce for most of the security agencies. This will also help us bring our workforce to about 800,” he said.

Dr Laryea said when the factory started in the 1960s, Ghana’s population was about six million with a workforce of 1,800 then, so with a population of 31 million currently, a workforce of 10,000 would be needed to produce at full scale.

He said there was the need for the Government to protect the indigenous companies in its economic transformation agenda, and that there were plans to expand its production and penetrate the African market through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Chairman Wontumi summoned by NPP Council of Elders ,over election disputes in Ashanti Region

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi), and other party executives are expected to hold an emergency meeting with the Council of Elders of the party as it takes steps to resolve all election-related disputes in the region.

The elders were at the Asokwa Magistrate Court on Monday (11 April 2022) to push for an out-of-court settlement in the case involving some party members who were charged with rioting after locking up the Subin Constituency party office last month.

The accused persons launched the protest against what they said were infractions in the recently held polling station elections in the constituency.

By Court

The presiding judge Akua Boahene declined the request for an out-of-court settlement and directed the case to the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) center as she adjourned the case to 9 May 2022.

Counsel for the 13 accused persons, Annis Moghtar Mohayideen, said the Council of Elders can still pursue their request for an out-of-court settlement.

“The court asked that the parties settle their differences through the Alternative Dispute Resolution channel. The Council of Elders, can, however, still pursue their request for the matter to be settled out of court”, he said.

Intervention

An internal election to pick new officers of the NPP has been characterized by violence and lawsuits. Elections in the Mampong, Manso Nkwanta, and other areas have been put on hold due to legal tussle.

The meeting is expected to be held on Wednesday (13 April 2022), dailymailgh.com has gathered. Chairman of the Council, Rev Mark Adu Gyamfi believes their intervention will put matters to rest.

“This is a political issue and must not be settled in court. We are meeting all the executives on Wednesday [over these issues] and tell them our piece of mind. As a party, we should be able to settle our issues out of court. So, henceforth, we are giving them the notice that they should never go to any court for resolutions without our permission, if they have to, we will recommend the court to them. We want all our party issues settled by ourselves.”

We will appoint permanent Black Stars coach soon-GFA

Henry Asante Twum

The Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Communications Director, Henry Asante Twum, has stated that the GFA would shortly announce the appointment of a permanent coach for the Black Stars.

Otto Addo and his technical team oversaw Ghana’s qualification for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana drew 0-0 with the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and drew 1-1 with Nigeria in the second leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

Otto Addo and his technical team were appointed after Ghana’s poor performance at the 33rd Africa Cup of Nations which was led by Serbian trainer Milovan Rajevac.

“I do not think it will take much time. They are in communication with the individuals concerned, having regular discussions with their employers, and many factors are being considered. But, again, the government of Ghana is the employer of the coach of the Black Stars and here is the case where we had four coaches qualifying us for the World Cup, he said on Luv FM.

“In terms of contractual engagement, a lot will go into it, so it’s tough to discuss these things. So, engagements are still ongoing, and I’m sure we will communicate our position as soon as a decision is made,” he added.

Asante Twum hinted that the FA is considering President Nana Akufo Addo’s statement about maintain the interim technical team when the entire squad met him at the Jubilee House.

“The President said we should consider taking the four coaches to the World Cup, and this is a very important request he made, but the coach is under contract, he is employed, and if we want to engage his services, we need to go back to Dortmund to request for his release as we did earlier.

“We cannot show disrespect to the first gentleman of the land; it is something he has personally spoken about in public and confidence and meetings with the leadership of the FA, so it is high on the agenda,” said Henry Asante Twum.
