Gabby Otchere-Darko, a prominent political strategist for the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has hinted that the government may be looking to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for assistance to get the economy back on track after the electronic transfer levy (E-Levy) failed to produce enough revenue for the economy. Mr. Otchere-Darko stated in a series of tweets that he has not opposed an IMF program that would boost economic confidence.
He lamented the fact that the E-Levy only brought in GHC 60 million, or 10% of the projected profits.
The administration of President Akufo-Addo had previously stated that it would not ask the IMF for economic assistance, but Mr. Otchere-tweets Darko appears to indicate that the government is now considering that option.
This is what he tweeted
I am not for an IMF program that throws peanuts at us but imposes conditions that will end up hurting the poor, jobs and businesses more. Covid-19 and War in Ukraine are not of Africa’s doing but more to our doom. A program that pretends it is all our doing is doomed to fail.

Actor John Dumelo has questioned whether religion and development are related.
He observes that although Ghanaians must perform physical labor, the nation places a greater emphasis on praying than on laboring to assure output.
In a tweet that he sent to his followers, John Dumelo made a statement.
The businessman claimed that recently, industries across the nation had been turned into churches where people believed in giving a higher tithe but opposed paying taxes.
John Dumelo believes that as a result, the nation’s progress will continue to be hampered.
Is there a link btn religion & development?Do Ghanaians spend more time praying for Ghana to be better than actually making the physical effort to make things better? We are converting factories to churches and paying more tithes than taxes. Is that the right approach?

Residents in flood-prone areas have received advice from Western Regional Minister Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah on how to handle floods. After a significant downpour, Takoradi’s Western Region experienced flooding in certain areas.
Social media videos and images showed a really bleak condition in the Western Region.
The rain caused houses and vehicles that were trying to cross the stream to get inundated.
But after assessing the extent of the flood damage, the Western Regional Minister said it is crucial for residents of flood-prone areas to always have a backup plan in place when the rains come.
He stated “those who stay in areas that are flood-prone, they should always have a plan B. When it starts raining you should move to your sister or your brother or something for a week or two so that when the rain subsides, you come back home”.
The Minister has since attributed the recent flood to engineering problems.
“Over time, the properties have been sold and permissions have been issued by the Assembly for individuals to build on them, and we have realized that there are some sinks in this area.
However, given the current state of affairs, he said to reporters on Wednesday, “It is an engineering challenge, and the engineers will have to come and bring us some large storm drains so that rainwater will be able to be moved from uphill to downhill into the Whin River.”
Obaapa Christy’s husband has refuted assertions that he has not yet recovered from the agony of losing his ex-wife. Christy is a well-known gospel singer.
In the past, after a video of Pastor Love supposedly throwing shade at his ex-wife went viral, some people asserted that he still has a “broken heart.”
On Tik Tok, Pastor Love was seen rapping along to Daddy Lumba’s “Mpempem” while supposedly emphasizing the lyrics to prank his ex-wife.
After seeing the aforementioned video, the gospel singer retaliated against her ex-husband by telling him to move on and quit demanding “unnecessary attention” from her.
“This topic is incredibly humorous. You’re not going to alter, will you? You keep wasting your time on me and trying to ruin me, but you fail. Obaapa Christy replied, “Look for a job to do and stop pestering me for pointless attention.
But Pastor Love has worked to dispel all the rumors that have been floating around his popular video.
He claims that he has long since moved past his ex-wife and that it would be foolish of him to continue to yearn for her when there are so many other options available.
Pastor Love here. When you notice my appearance and size,
Pastor Love here. You will be drawn to me when you see my appearance and physical stature. Never once have I experienced a broken heart. I’m a tough person who was raised in Bantama. All I hear while having fun on Tok Tok is that I was making reference to my ex. Why would I still think about Obaapa Christy if we haven’t been together for the previous 11 years?”
Being a big man, I am far Bigger than all of that. In a video that has been going viral on social media, he said, “I am past that.
You may remember that Pastor Love stated that his ex-wife was still his wife sometime in 2020, not long after Obaapa Christy wed again in Germany.
He stated, among other things, that the gospel singer had denied him access to their children in a previous interview with Zionfelix.
A statement from the presidency, according to North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, “confirms that the president indeed spent €20,000 an hour of government money to lease a jet.”
The MP claimed in a statement he posted on social media that Eugene Arhin, the presidential spokesperson, did not deny that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had rented a posh jet for his recent trip to Rwanda.
It is quite notable that the declaration made by Mr. Eugene Arhin verifies that President Akufo Addo did, in fact, charter an executive plane. The ostentatious €20,000 per hour ACJ319, registered D-Alex and run by German company K5-Aviation, was chartered by the Presidency, which the Presidency’s statement neither confirmed nor could have refuted.
He added that it doesn’t matter that Arhin claimed Akufo-Addo took a commercial aircraft to Belgium since there is still a fee associated with the private plane that is waiting for the president.
“To logical, patriotic Ghanaians, it makes no difference from where in Accra, Brussels, Kigali, London, Kabul, Nur-Sultan, or Tbilisi the President decides to unjustly and ruthlessly rob the national coffers; the value is the same wherever.
‘Mr Eugene Arhin ought to know that when you charter an aircraft, you are billed for the distance covered to arrive at the pick-up point, as well as the waiting period, which includes waiting time for the passenger, layover period for crew rest, and the return leg (as this was not a ’empty leg’ or ‘dead head’ charter),’ he said.
How Akufo-Addo traveled from Accra to Brussels
According to the Jubilee House statement, the president did not, as had been stated, fly to Belgium on a specially chartered Airbus ACJ319 aircraft. The president boarded a flight utilizing the Air France Commercial Flight, the statement claims (AF0584)
On Sunday at 7:20 p.m., Air France Commercial Flight (AF0584) from Accra to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, with a destination of Paris, made a stopover there before continuing to Belgium. The 12-person team led by President Akufo-Addo actually all took commercial flights, according to the statement.
“On Monday, June 20, the day President Akufo-Addo arrived in Brussels, Belgium’s major airport, Brussels Airport, was forced to cancel all departing flights due to airport staff members joining an aviation strike.
“The alternative to fly utilizing direct commercial flight from Brussels to Kigali was not accessible,” it stressed. “The Presidency had been given prior knowledge of the strike action before the President’s journey to Brussels.
In a statement written by Mr. Eugene Arhin, the Ghanaian Presidency reveals its most recent extravagant ACJ319 D-Alex, which costs €20,000 per hour to charter.
Ghana’s Presidency confirms its latest €20,000 an hour ACJ319 D-Alex ostentatious chartered jet in a statement signed by Mr. Eugene Arhin.
The convener of the #FixTheCountry movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has explained why he believes the Ghanaian armed forces are “useless.”
Oliver Barker claimed that he gave the military the nickname because, rather than defending the public, the military actively brutalized citizens. Barker maintained that he labeled them useless due to recent actions in an appearance on Asaase Radio.
Oliver Barker made the remark in response to an interview he gave on June 10th.
“Given this perception of our Ghanaian Armed Forces, I believe they are useless. They believe that their sole responsibility is to run through our streets and murder us. They are meant to be a cornerstone of our democracy, according to Barker-Vormawor.
Sadiq Sulley, also known as SDK, a Ghanaian actor and writer of comic skits, has pleaded with Ghanaians to stop equating their country’s artistic prowess with that of Nigeria.
In an interview with Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey Santana on Okay FM’s Ekwansodwodwo segment, SDK said that Ghana is endowed with an abundance of creativity and that virtually everyone tries their hardest to be innovative in their area.
He claimed that because of their population, Nigerians have dominated the scene, thus there is nothing wrong with some Ghanaian talents learning from them, but they should attempt to be original.
He described how he borrowed an idea from a Nigrian comedy sketch and was able to adapt it to his own needs by using a Ghanaian tune to match the theme.
SDK advised Ghanaians to respect local talent and critique it based on its originality rather than equating it with brilliance from other nations.
The Akufo-Addo administration has been beset by a string of corruption, according to Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for which Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen should have resigned.
If Mr. Kyerematen had had the guts to leave the current administration, which in his opinion has been mired in a string of corruption scandals, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe claimed he would have followed him.
He added, “The Alan situation, Alan is a nice gentleman but politics you don’t employ nice gentleman to conduct politics,” in an interview with TV3’s Johnnie Hughes. You’ll need individuals who can assert their strength and say, “This is it; I stand by it.”
“The government, of which Alan is a member, has seen a number of corruption cases. I would have followed Alan wherever he went if he had quit, but since he lacked the bravery to do so, I can’t regard him as a leader.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe claimed that it would be impossible for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to serve as the party’s flagbearer and ultimately as President of Ghana due to the NPP’s organizational structure.
He claimed that despite the fact that Dr. Bawumia is a lovely gentleman and someone he has known for a good while, the NPP will make it difficult for him to realize his ultimate goal of becoming head of state.
“I did an interview, it was with a foreign magazine, I will find out if I still have it, I will share with you, where I made plain that by the structure of our party, Bawumia cannot come to power.
“Bawumia is a fine gentlemen, if Bawumia would have had that independent mind and strength and not just always praise what the president has done or has not done, I would have looked at him differently, I know Bawumia very well..”
