Chelsea are reportedly in the market for a new left-back, with Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco and AC Milan’s Theo Hernandez on their shortlist.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, the Blues are looking to strengthen their left-back position in the January transfer window, with Ben Chilwell currently sidelined with a long-term injury.

Dimarco is a 24-year-old Italian left-back who has been impressive for Inter Milan in recent seasons. He is a versatile player who can also play as a wing-back or left midfielder.

Hernandez is a 23-year-old French left-back who is one of the best players in his position in the world. He is a dynamic and attacking full-back who is also very good defensively.

It is unclear which player Chelsea are prioritising, but both Dimarco and Hernandez would be excellent additions to the squad.

Dimarco is a more affordable option, with Inter Milan reportedly willing to sell him for around €20 million. Hernandez, on the other hand, would cost significantly more, with AC Milan reportedly demanding €50 million for his services.

Chelsea will have to make a decision on which player they want to pursue in the coming weeks. If they are looking for a more affordable option, Dimarco is the better choice. However, if they are looking for the best possible left-back in the world, Hernandez is the man they should sign.

The signing of a new left-back is a priority for Chelsea, with Chilwell out for the rest of the season and Marcos Alonso the only natural left-back in the squad.

Dimarco and Hernandez are both excellent players who would improve Chelsea’s defense and attack. Dimarco is a more versatile player, while Hernandez is the more talented defender.

If Chelsea are looking for a more affordable option, Dimarco is the better choice. However, if they are looking for the best possible left-back in the world, Hernandez is the man they should sign.

It is also worth noting that Hernandez is a French international, which would help Chelsea to meet their homegrown player quota.

Ultimately, the decision of who to sign will come down to Chelsea’s manager, Thomas Tuchel. He will need to decide which player he believes is the best fit for his team and his system of play.
