Nottingham Forest have completed the signing of Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea on a £3.5m deal, plus add-ons and a significant sell-on clause.
The 22-year-old winger has signed a three-year deal at the City Ground, and becomes Forest’s 22nd signing of the summer transfer window.
Hudson-Odoi came through the Chelsea academy and made his first-team debut in 2018. He has gone on to make 126 appearances for the club, scoring 16 goals and winning the Europa League and Champions League.
However, he has struggled for game time in recent seasons, and spent last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen.
Hudson-Odoi is a versatile player who can operate on either wing or as an attacking midfielder. He is known for his pace, dribbling ability and creativity.
Forest manager Steve Cooper is excited about the signing, and believes that Hudson-Odoi can be a key player for the club in their return to the Premier League.
“Callum is a young player with a lot of potential,” Cooper said. “He has shown his quality at the highest level, and I am confident that he can be a success at Nottingham Forest.
“He is a versatile player who can play in a number of positions, and I am looking forward to working with him and helping him to reach his full potential.”
Hudson-Odoi is also excited about the move, and believes that Forest is the perfect place for him to get his career back on track.
“I am very excited to be joining Nottingham Forest,” Hudson-Odoi said. “It is a big club with a lot of history, and I am looking forward to playing in the Premier League again.
“I have spoken to the manager, and I am confident that he is the right person to help me to reach my full potential. I am also looking forward to working with my new teammates, and I am excited to get started.”
