Nigerian singer and songwriter Burna Boy has scored six nominations at the 2023 BET Awards. The awards ceremony, which will be held on June 26, honors the best in Black entertainment.
Burna Boy is nominated for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best International Act, Best Collaboration (for “Jalebi Baby” with BTS), Best Dancehall Artist, Best Global Music Artist, and Video of the Year (for “Last Last”).
He is the most nominated African artist this year. Other African artists who received nominations include Wizkid, Tems, and Fireboy DML.
Burna Boy is no stranger to the BET Awards. He has won two awards in the past, for Best International Act in 2019 and Best Collaboration (for “Ye” with Drake) in 2021.
He is also the first African artist to headline the BET Awards. He did so in 2022.
Burna Boy is a global superstar who has won numerous awards, including Grammy Awards, BET Awards, and MTV Europe Music Awards. He is known for his unique blend of Afrobeats, dancehall, and reggae.
