Brett Maher is an American football player who was born on 21 November 1989 in Kearney, Nebraska, in the United States as the son of Brian Maher and Peggy Maher.
Maher grew up in Utica, Nebraska, attending Centennial Public School, then transferring to Kearney High School to play high school football for the Bearcats.
As a senior, he made 8 of 14 field goals, 41 of 46 extra points and averaged 41.1 yards per punt. Brett also played wide receiver and finished the season with 775 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns, earning all-state honours from the Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World-Herald.
As a redshirt freshman and sophomore, he started all games as the field goal and extra point holder while also serving as the backup punter to Alex Henery.
Brett has emerged as one of the most in-demand players in American football. He has played for the New York Jets, Dallas Cowboys, Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Washington Commanders, Arizona Cardinals, Ottawa Redblacks, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Cleveland Browns.
Brett Maher is currently the placekicker for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League. On 16 January 2023, he missed 4 out of 5 extra point attempts during the Cowboys’ Wild Card Game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
