Nigerian-born musician and entrepreneur Mr Eazi has opened his first art exhibition, “The Evil Genius”, at Gallery 1957 in Accra, Ghana. The exhibition, which coincides with Accra Cultural Week, features 16 artworks by 12 artists from eight African countries.

The artworks in the exhibition explore themes of love, freedom, happiness, and the creative process. They are inspired by Mr Eazi’s new album of the same name, which was released in June 2023.

“I wanted to create an exhibition that would celebrate the beauty and diversity of African art,” said Mr Eazi. “I’m also excited to share my love of music with the art world.”

The exhibition is open to the public from September 13 to October 15, 2023. It is free to attend.

Some of the artworks in the exhibition include:

• “The Lovebirds” by Ghanaian artist Amoako Boafo, a painting of two people embracing in a field of flowers.
• “The Freedom Fighter” by Nigerian artist Victor Ehikhamenor, a sculpture of a woman holding aloft a torch.
• “The Happy Family” by Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu, a collage of found objects and images that depicts a joyful family scene.
• “The Creative Process” by South African artist William Kentridge, a series of drawings that explore the artist’s own creative journey.

The exhibition has been met with positive reviews from critics and art lovers alike.
