President-elect John Dramani Mahama has made a heartfelt appeal to chiefs and imams across Ghana, requesting their continued prayers as he prepares to tackle the country’s economic challenges. During a meeting with the Yagbonwura, Mahama emphasized the critical role of spiritual support in the upcoming phase of his leadership.

Mahama stated, “I have appealed that him [the Yagbonwura] and our chiefs and our imams should not stop praying. They should continue praying. This is the time we need the prayers the most so that we can look after Ghana.” He underscored the severity of the current economic downturn, pointing out that “We all know our economy is in crisis, there is hardship in the land so that we can work hard to turn our fortunes around and create prosperity and dignity for all Ghana’s people.”

Recognizing the complexity of the tasks ahead, Mahama also expressed his personal prayers for divine guidance in governance. “I am praying that God gives me the sense of discernment to be able to choose the right people to govern with to be able to create economic prosperity for the people of Ghana,” he added.
