Speaking on the modalities of the proposal, leadership within the legal fraternity emphasized that deploying fresh graduates from the Ghana School of Law to rural districts will provide much-needed support understaffed public defender offices and local magistrate courts. For years, legal practitioners have heavily concentrated in metropolitan zones due to lucrative commercial opportunities, leaving thousands of citizens in remote districts without affordable access to legal counsel.

Bridging the Justice Gap with National Service

Under the proposed framework, newly qualified attorneys would spend their mandatory service year assisting state institutions, working with the Legal Aid Commission, or serving as junior state attorneys in regions that lack adequate judicial infrastructure.
