In a dramatic rescue operation in the Upper East Region, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) successfully freed a commercial driver trapped inside an overturned tipper truck. The alarming incident, which occurred in the Bolgatanga East district, has once again drawn sharp focus to heavy-duty vehicle safety and emergency response readiness across regional highways.

Local authorities confirmed that the heavy-duty tipper truck veered off the road under yet-to-be-determined circumstances before flipping onto its side. The impact severely compromised the cabin structure, leaving the driver pinned inside and unable to escape without specialized extraction equipment.

GNFS Personnel Deploy Specialized Extraction Gear

Upon receiving an emergency distress call, a dedicated rescue team from the Bolgatanga East fire station rushed to the accident scene. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, firefighters deployed hydraulic rescue tools—commonly known as the jaws of life—to cut through the mangled metal of the truck’s cabin.
