As part of his campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Dr. Bawumia’s visit was marked by enthusiastic receptions and significant interactions with the local community.
Morning in Abetifi and Mpraeso
Dr. Bawumia’s day began in Abetifi, where he engaged with traditional rulers, market women, and residents. His journey continued to Mpraeso in the afternoon, where similar interactions took place. These meetings highlighted his commitment to understanding and addressing the concerns of the people.
Tumultuous Reception in Akyem Asafo
Descending from the mountains, Dr. Bawumia arrived in Akyem Asafo to a tumultuous reception. The streets were filled with both young and old, eager to welcome the NPP flagbearer. Before reaching Akyem Asafo, Dr. Bawumia and his entourage paid a visit to the Okyenhene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panin II. The Okyenhene, along with sub-chiefs from his traditional area, warmly welcomed Dr. Bawumia, underscoring the significance of his visit.
A Gathering of Hope
While Dr. Bawumia paid homage to the Okyenhene, thousands of supporters, predominantly young people, gathered in neighboring Akyem Asafo. These supporters, many of whom traveled from nearby towns and villages on foot and motorcycles, braved the rain and waited for over five hours to see the man they hope will succeed President Akufo-Addo.
The event was a testament to Dr. Bawumia’s growing popularity and the hope he inspires among the youth. His campaign tour of the Eastern Region not only strengthened his connection with the people but also highlighted the widespread support for his leadership within the NPP.
