Art Evans, renowned for his roles in films such as “Die Hard 2” and “A Soldier’s Story,” has passed away at the age of 82.
Evans died on Saturday, December 21, from complications related to diabetes, a condition he had managed for many years, according to Deadline. His obituary, as reported by Variety, notes that he passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.
His wife, Babe Evans, paid tribute to him, stating in a statement to Deadline, “Art was not only an incredible actor but a devoted husband, friend and source of light to everyone who knew him. His laughter, passion and love of life will be deeply missed. While our hearts are heavy, we celebrate the legacy of joy and inspiration he leaves behind.”
In her statement to Variety, Babe shared the family’s grief, “We are heartbroken to share that Art has passed away. Please respect our privacy at this time. A memorial will be held for friends and family to attend at a later date. Thank you.”
Born on March 27, 1942, in Los Angeles, Evans began his acting career at Frank Silvera’s Theatre of Being. His screen debut came in 1976 with an episode of “Chico and the Man,” leading to a prolific career with over 120 film and television credits over 50 years.
He starred in notable films including “Death Wish,” “Amazing Grace,” “The In-Laws,” “Wrong is Right,” “Die Hard 2,” “Tales from the Hood,” “A Soldier’s Story,” and “Young Caesar.”
On television, Evans appeared in popular series such as “MAS*H,” “9 to 5,” “The X Files,” “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” “Mad About You,” “Hill Street Blues,” “The Fall Guys,” and “Maximum Security,” leaving a lasting impact on the entertainment industry.
